Treadmill training
Cold days ahead, it’s best to get dogs and older puppies familiar with the treadmill. Treadmill also helps lengthen focus and improve calm associations. It is as much of a physical exercise as it is a mental exercise!

A walk with deer!
A nice long morning walk in a new and interesting place with deer following curiously. Now he is super deer confident and calmly enjoys watching the deer as they visited on the porch. Dogs notice when we are not afraid just as they are greatly aware if we are nervous or afraid. He noticed how much I enjoy the walk with deer just as he loves the scent of coffee (he knows what I like and mirrors it).
We are back home now, it was so nice to see so many deer and the hills of Lago Vista just outside of
Princeton meets deer.
A journey to deer country was a real interesting and fun adventure! He watched from the safety of under my legs until he realized I was not at all afraid then he came out and watched and sniffed from afar.

Treadmill walking fun on a stormy morning! 😊 He is learning the treadmill and doing great, even though for a moment I redirected his attention off of the leash and back onto me!
The calm after the walk … perfect time for rewards (affection and food)!
Continuing in this slower pace because it’s an excellent challenge!
Treadmill training and treadmill walking on a stormy morning in Keller, Texas!
He’s loving it and working out his mind as much as his body ( he’s so curious about what makes it go)!
I had it on a much faster pace (instinctual thought) getting the energy out having fun, then I slow it down (thinking mode) he is analyzing it and (slow way down for thinking mode and cool down/ calm down ). The slow before the stop is like installing a dimmer switch . It also helps that I was looking forward to the treadmill training as much as he was.. and especially his pet parents were also looking forward to this.. yay! 👏👏👏
Loki’s first time on the treadmill! Please excuse the bad camera work, I was filming him during his learning phase therefore not paying attention as much to cam angles etc. Loki is a very confident poodle, I only did 5 minutes of showing him the start and stop beep before just letting him walk!
Vader has come a long way, from avoiding the treadmill like the plague to enjoying the treadmill!
Notice how loose the lease is, he feels so much more emotionally secure (emotional boundaries in place) that he no longer feels he needs physical boundaries along the sides of the treadmill. Yay Vader (and his humans)! 😊👏👏👏
This little Angel is a rescue adopted Corgi who is learning to trust people and leash walk.
My “cart method” of gentle leash training is being used to keep the anxiety low -notice the previous leash biting she used to do!
Prior to being adopted her paws never left the crate to even walk on grass.
Maya .. continued loose lead walking without pulling or social reactivity! She’s doing great!
Maya is learning to have social confidence instead of social reactivity , she’s learning loose lead following without leash tension.
