Twisted stomachs, broken hearts🐾💔
Most people think “bloat” just means gas buildup, but gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV) is much more serious. In GDV, the stomach fills with gas and twists, cutting off blood flow and putting dangerous pressure on vital organs. Without immediate treatment, it can be fatal.

🐾 What dogs are highest risk? Large, deep-chested breeds are the most vulnerable. Neutered males are at slightly higher risk.

📌 What Research Shows:
-Dogs that eat quickly or swallow a lot of air face a significantly higher risk
-Split daily calories into two meals instead of one large meal for at-risk dogs — it lowers GDV risk.
Diet matters:
– Dogs fed ultra-processed kibble, especially those with seed oils listed among the first four ingredients, face a higher risk.
– Kibble pieces smaller than 30mm also increase risk.
– Feeding meat-based diets with larger chunks (>30mm) can lower risk.
-Avoid exercise and large amounts of water immediately before or after meals.
-Dogs with anxious, fearful, or high-stress temperaments have a higher likelihood of GDV.

⏱️ Every Second Counts
If you suspect GDV, go to the vet immediately. With rapid surgical intervention, survival rates reach up to 80%, but waiting can be deadly.
Your awareness and quick action can save your dog’s life. ❤️

Povidone Iodine—Nature’s Antimicrobial Solution🌱🦠🐾

If paws are bleeding🩸, have sores, or trauma from licking, I recommend using povidone iodine (Betadine™)—a safe, nontoxic solution that’s antifungal (for yeast and dermatophytes ), antibacterial (even against resistant infections ), doesn’t sting, and promotes wound healing .

If the paws are inflamed or have open sores or abrasions, soak them longer, ideally 2 to 5 minutes. This helps effectively address potential sources of infection, reducing the need for oral antibiotics or other drugs.

Cancer is always a scary thought! This is a good picture of signs to watch for in our pets that may signal something is wrong and that cancer could be the culprit. If you notice these symptoms, it’s definitely good to get your sweetie checked out by a veterinarian.

It’s called Oral Allergy Syndrome and though it’s not super common it does happen. If you have a dog that has severe allergies you probably care that it can happen!

If you regularly add these foods to your dog’s diet and they suffer from seasonal allergies, I would skip them during the bad pollen seasons, just to be safe. There are plenty of other fresh foods to add, so why chance exacerbating the situation.
