Heads up to our daycare and boarding families! 🐾

We want to make you aware that kennel cough is currently going around the area, and we have received a few reports of visiting dogs later showing symptoms. We do expect this number to increase, as “kennel cough” is a broad term that includes several viral and bacterial respiratory illnesses—very similar to human colds and flus in how they present and spread.
While we continue to follow strict cleaning and sanitizing protocols, unfortunately we still haven’t figured out how to get our pups to wash their hands or cover their noses. 😅

Although the Bordetella vaccine is required for all daycare and boarding guests, it does not protect against every cause of canine cough. If your dog shows any symptoms (coughing, nasal discharge, lethargy, etc.), please keep them home and away from group settings. Dogs may return to daycare once they have been symptom-free for 10 full days.
If your pup develops symptoms or receives a respiratory diagnosis, please let us know so we can monitor and plan accordingly. If you have concerns, we always recommend reaching out to your veterinarian for guidance. The good news is that most dogs recover just like we do—with rest and hydration.

KENNEL COUGH SEASON IS UPON US!!! 😢😩🤧

Hey everyone! We want to give you a heads up that it’s that time of year again. The most frustrating part—just like with human viruses—is that kennel cough can spread before a dog ever shows symptoms.

One of the biggest questions we get is about the Bordetella vaccine. Just like the human flu shot, it only covers certain strains, so your dog can still catch kennel cough. However, staying up to date on this vaccine can lessen symptoms or shorten the length of illness, so it’s still very important!
Please keep your pup home if they’re showing any of the following symptoms:

🤧 Coughing

😷 Sneezing

🤮 Retching (as if something is stuck in their throat)

😷 Coughing up foamy phlegm

🤒 General signs of feeling unwell

We are doing our part by thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting each kennel between every dog. We sanitize daily using products specifically designed for the pet-care industry to kill viruses like kennel cough. We take this very seriously and do everything we can to help stop the spread.
But—just like sending kids to school during cold and flu season—sometimes even with all precautions, they can still catch it.
