Holly was Calla’s first dog and BEST DOG EVER. Rescued around the age of 4 by Calla from the Humane Society of Douglas County, she was the very definition of a “Velcro Springer.” Holly was there by Calla’s side through crucial seasons of life including high school, college, and marriage.

High-energy Holly loved everyone she met. She was obsessed with pancakes which earned her the nickname “cakepans!” She was equally as passionate about popcorn and cuddling, but not a fan of getting her nails trimmed or having her eye goobers cleaned. She snored every night for nearly 16 years even as she crossed the rainbow bridge and took a piece of Calla’s heart with her on her journey.

Thank you for the honour of creating this memorial portrait for you, Calla. ❤️ Thank you for giving your Holly a loving home and a wonderful life.

This is my portrait of ‘s fancy girl, Charlee the Doberman Pinscher that was painted for Christmas. 🎄

Charlee has such regal features that it made it really difficult to select a single reference picture. They were all so beautiful! I almost chose one of her sitting prim and proper with her paws criss-crossed in front of the Christmas tree, but ended up going with the one where she looked the most adoring. 😍

Okay, so today I was walking down the street to visit when I saw the most gorgeous Yellow Labrador glowing in the sun. Those of you who know me well, know that I’m “gon’sta” wave at every dog I encounter and probably going to try to get a picture of them.

So obviously I waved at the total strangers and their dog, but it should be noted that I showed willpower to not take a picture. 😂 Baby steps…

Once I got into Kindred, the people with the beautiful Yellow Lab were also visiting Kindred and we connected. Turns out they are clients AND the dog I saw is one that I am already scheduled to paint in 2025! They let me meet Mia and get lots of pictures with her. 🥰🥰🥰 Totally made my day! Thank you, Mari & Jim!!!

It’s been brought to my attention that my posts are often sad. 😥I completely agree. I often cry when I am writing my posts especially when they are memorial portraits, so here’s a post of an ultra happy moment meeting Izzy last year at the Tri-County Humane Society’s Furrassic Park. Tri-County Humane Society

🎨I eventually painted Izzy. I absolutely love meeting ALL dogs and especially ones that I have painted or get to paint. I couldn’t have been happier in this moment! It made my day!

I’ll try to sprinkle in more posts that are happy from now on!☺️

Last year at this time, I was working on many paintings as I am yet again another year. This portrait of a beautiful Irish Setter meeting a little friend was one that I was working on in November/December 2023. This was Sunny. If I remember the process, I repainted her eye what felt like 8 billion times because I couldn’t get it the way I wanted it to be.

From what I have heard she was the sweetest girl and deeply missed by her family.

Thank you to my friend, Britta for giving me this opportunity to paint this special encounter.

Our Story

My first official painting of a pet was my very own German Shepherd. Her name was Snickers. She was such an amazing friend to me and was like my own protective shadow. She also had the most beautiful eyes that were defined in jet black fur as if she was wearing dramatic eyeliner. Even now as I type, my eyes fill with tears as I remember her loyalty, the unique personality of her essence, and how much I miss her. I realized that others may be wanting to represent the bond of friendship that they have had with their dog or cat, so I began to paint custom portraits. I absolutely love hearing stories about these little characters and have thoroughly enjoyed creating something special for each one of my clients.
