We're taking a look back at the early days as we celebrate 25 years in business! Seen here, on the Madison River in winter of 1989, and on the Colorado River.

The Yellow Dog name dates back more than 25 years. In 1994, Jim Klug started "Yellow Dog River Products," a fly fishing sales rep company that worked throughout the northern Rockies. Shortly after, Jim and Ian Davis (who at the time owned Breckenridge Outfitters in Colorado) started fishing together on a regular basis on Andros Island in the Bahamas. In 2000, Klug founded Yellow Dog Fly Fishing Adventures, initially offering four lodge options in Belize. Five years later, Davis sold Breckenridge Outfitters, moved to Bozeman, and joined Yellow Dog as a co-owner.

Barracuda aren't always given the credit they deserve in the world of saltwater fly fishing. They are understandably maligned for attempting to sn**ch the bonefish on the end of your line, forcing responsible guides and anglers to find another flat without the "tax man" lurking nearby. But instead of finding them frustrating or a nuisance, consider them to be a challenging, aggressive predator that make long runs, leap wildly from the water, and slam a fly like few others can.

Upon arrival at Farquhar Atoll, Chris O. assembled gear and struck out right away before the official start of the fishing week. His efforts were rewarded with a self-guided GT with an incredible backdrop to boot. Chris's efforts are a great reminder to always sneak in an extra hour of DIY when the setting allows it!
