A perfect day to take Hazel and Quinn on a long run in the hills of Whittier for exercise and a training session. A tired dog is a good dog!

What makes us unique? Our Board and Trains go on many field trips such as pet stores, the park, hiking trails, hardware stores, and more during their 3 week stay here. Along with getting the opportunity to train in multiple environments, they are also getting lots of exercise! You don’t have to worry that your dog will be sitting in a small dog run the whole time during their stay here. This handsome guy in this picture is a Malinois and German Shepherd Dog mix. On this day, we ran 10 miles together in the mountains of Claremont. Note: This dog has been conditioned over a period of time to run this distance.

Kane, a 6 month old German Shorthair Pointer, practicing "wait" until released with "okay", "crate" (to go in his crate), and "down". He has a lot of energy but he is a fun dog to work with! Good boy Kane!

My new client today, Butaro 🐷. We covered many topics including importance of neutering pet pigs, potty training, crate training, walking on a leash, and to respond to his name.

Want to give your dog(s) a frozen treat for hot summer days? Purchase a 4-inch hollow sterilized marrow bone (sold in pet stores and Amazon), fill with can dog food of your choice, and put in the freezer! After your dog is done, clean the inside of the bone with a toothbrush, and/or wash in the dishwasher. Sterilized marrow bones are affordable and last for years. Tip: Purchase several bones to fill so you always have one on hand

In certain circumstances dogs need to be muzzled, but there is absolutely NO reason that a dog should hate wearing one! Unfortunately, many owners don't know how to properly introduce a muzzle to their dog, and/or transmit THEIR own negative feeling about it to their dog. Personally, I believe ALL powerful, large breed dogs and/or dogs that have a history of biting should be (positively) taught to wear a muzzle out of respect for veterinarians, groomers, or whoever may have to closely handle that dog one day. Whenever I take my Rottweiler to the veterinarian, I always bring my basket muzzle and put it on her just to put the veterinarian at ease while examining her. However, out of respect for MY dog, before a muzzle is put on my dog at the veterinarian office, my dog has been PROPERLY introduced and "trained" to wear one months beforehand. The last thing I want to do is throw a muzzle on my dog and have them have a negative experience! In the video clip below you can see my dog enthusiastically shoving her nose into the muzzle. Putting the muzzle on is a good thing to her. The muzzle is also put on as I'm preparing her meal so, once again, wearing her muzzle means good things are coming.
