I generally do not share the horrible heart wrenching cases we take in, but this is the second chemical burn fawn we have received this month.
Both fawns were found in areas that had been sprayed with pesticides and herbicides. At what point do we finally stand up for these creatures and take responsibility for the suffering and deaths we are causing with these acts?

For forty years, horses and their riders were the heart of this magical place called Nottingham. Gradually over the past fifteen years wildlife have shared this special setting, and have brought their own healing energy. Over the last few years I have struggled with how to bring both of my passions together. I want to honor the important role this barn has made in the lives of hundreds of horses and riders. At the same time, I want to explore the crucial responsibility of both rehabilitating local wildlife while working to preserve the habitats that they share with people. This kind of change can only occur when people become more enlightened and empathetic toward these creatures. It is my sincere belief that Nottingham can combine the healing energy of both horses and wildlife to bring about the changes that are needed in our world. Thank you all for your support of this vision. 💗🌿

Yesterday as we went on our trail ride the campers saw a young groundhog dead on the road in front of the Nook. They were so upset to learn that it was Felicia, a teenage ground hog I had released a month ago. Together we decided to make a memorial for Felicia so that other wildlife here at the Nook did not get hit by a car by someone driving too fast. These young hearts will make a difference in this world and I am so proud of them. 💞
REST IN PEACE Felicia. 🌿

Even when I travel, the wildlife find their way to the Nook. This beautiful female red fox kit wandered into a horse barn in Coldwater this morning and happily settled into our new indoor fox enclosures by this afternoon. Please help us to continue to provide shelter and food for all the wildlife in need by donating to the Nottingham Nature Nook Fox Fundraiser posted on April 17th.

Did you know that numerous scientific studies have shown that deer culls don't work because of the Compensatory Rebound Effect.
1. Food increases in that area and creates a vacuum effect for nearby deer populations to move in.
2. Reproductive rates and # of fawns increase.
3. Early onset of sexual maturity in does increases population growth.
There have been no cases of CWD in Deer in East Lansing and no cases in Ingham County since 2016.
Help us Stop theses Senseless Shootings.
Join us tonight from 5:30 to 7:00 at the Hannah Community Center at 819 Abbot Road. If you cannot attend tonight Please fill out the Survey at the link below. Together we can make a difference. 💕

Don't miss our 20th Annual Winter Funday!

07/05/2022

Excellent opportunity for those who enjoy fresh air, being outside, and have a great love for horses and all kinds of wildlife. Why spend your days stuck inside when you have the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors? And, if people aren't your "thing" that's okay too - there are more barn cats then people!

Must be comfortable around horses and with farm equipment. Will consider full or part time. Pay is $60/day - and the day gets quicker the better you get with the work. Must be able to lift 25-35 lbs.

Hours are approximately 8:00 am - 2:00 pm Monday through Sunday. The barn is approximately 1 mile off the bus line.

Please contact Cheryl Connell-Marsh at (517) 488-7451

This is one of my favorite pictures of the fawn herd. This picture shows the gentle nature of these animals sharing food together and it shows the importance of each fawn in creating this beautiful star. If one fawn is taken out, the star is changed forever. The same is true for the fawns and deer that live in the Aquatic Center and softball complex park. Each of these animals have a right to live and are sentient beings with personalities, minds and emotions. If we learn to protect and respect these beautiful creatures we will ultimately save ourselves.
Save the Fawns. Stop the Cull.

For over 10 years I have lovingly raised fawns that the residents of this community have found and brought to me. For the first 5 months of their life I not only feed and care for them I love them. Not as pets, but as the beautiful, kind and precious gifts they are. I raise them and release them knowing that they are wild spirits that deserve to be free. They do not deserve to be gunned down by sharpshooters.
Stop the cull at the East Lansing Aquatic center and softball complex. Call or email the City Council Today before it is too late!

On Wednesday evening John suffered a stroke and was rushed to Sparrow hospital where they were able to successfully remove a blood clot from his brain. Thankfully, he is slowly progressing and will be moved to the Sparrow rehab unit in the next several days. All your prayers, healing energy and love will be greatly appreciated over the next several months. We will also be getting hay this Sunday and would love help.
