Rendezvous begins in just THREE DAYS!

Guide, Redside Foundation Board Member, and Founder of Dogsmile Adventures, Jon Totten, will be our closing presenter on Sunday.

Jon will share insight into the practice of self-friendliness and self-love and how it helps us live well. He will also share a 5-minute meditation to practice before getting out of your sleeping bag to start each day with intention.

What a way to close an epic weekend of community, skills development, and celebration.

Registration opens Friday morning, May 19th, at 8:00 A.M. at Mountain Village in Stanley, ID.

Tomorrow, May 12th, is THE day to sign up for the Dutch Oven Cook-Off. It's happening Friday, May 19th, at Rendezvous in Stanely, ID.

Here’s the beta!

Entries:
Individuals or teams (no limit, all compete equally)
No entry fees.
Dutch Oven categories are entrée, sides, and dessert.
No limit on the # of Dutch Oven dishes entered by individuals or teams.
You may enter any or all categories.
Make generous portions as your dish will participate in Friday night’s Rendezvous feast.
You must fill out a registration form with your name, the number of contestants on your team, and the name(s) of your dish(es).
Dishes will be judged on presentation, aroma, taste, and creativity!
Cash prizes!

The Venue Set Up:

The Dutch Oven Cook-Off venue will be on the grass adjacent to Mountain Village.
Station Set Up – starts between 3:00 - 4:00 p.m., cook-off crew will show you where to set up. (Please let us know if you need to get started earlier)
Charcoal will be provided.
Dishes need to be ready for presentation for judging at 6:0O p.m.
Dinner is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

What will be provided:

Charcoal
Hand Wash Station
Clean Up Station
Fire Blankets (limited)
Trash Cans

What contestants need to bring:

Table for prep
Any kitchen items you may need: stoves, utensils (cooking & serving), cutting boards, coolers, meat thermometers (if needed)
Dutch Oven(s)
Ingredients and equipment needed to prepare the dish(es)
Elevated Fire Pan
Fire Blanket, if you have one (to protect the grass)

Rules & Regulations:

All dishes need to be prepared on-site.
All Ingredients must be combined, chopped, sliced, diced, and cooked on-site, including marinades & garnishes. Pre-cooked items are not allowed.
Dishes must be cooked in a Dutch oven
Please know and practice safe food handling procedures.

Most Important:

Have Fun! This is a time to gather with fellow guides, outfitters, friends & family and celebrate the art of cooking as we all know and love…outside! Make your dishes tasty and beautiful, get creative, and, most importantly, enjoy the camaraderie of one another!

We are pleased to welcome Mx. Auri East back to Rendezvous as a speaker on Sunday morning. Their session, "What's Truly Hard about Being Inclusive," will address allyship, inclusivity, discomfort around awareness, micro- and macro-aggressions, trans-ness, and the hard conversations.

Auri is a Sex/ual/ity Educator & Consultant from late Fall through early Spring and a multi-day River Guide the rest of the year. When not teaching or guiding, Auri is making functional pottery, tiny watercolors, block prints, and sourdough bread. They are almost always trying to be outside.

The incredible equine vet, Shane Baird, DMV, will be at Rendezvous Friday morning, May 19th, to share his knowledge of backcountry equine first aid.

This session is a MUST for any guide who works (or hopes to) with horses away from the stables. If you are a river guiding working hunting camps in the fall, make sure you attend and get the knowledge you need to care for your horses.

You will leave with the knowledge to build an equine first kit and a handbook for future reference.

Quick Reminder- Just a few more days for Early Bird pricing!

Rendezvous Tickets will be going up $10 on April 1st.

We've been asked about the increased pricing for Rendezvous this year. There are two big reasons:

1. We have three days of programming this year. If you have yet to explore the schedule of events, go check it out! It's going to be fantastic! You can find it on our website under RENDEZVOUS/schedule.

2. The other reason is the increased price of everything, especially food. Your ticket includes enjoying meals from Friday night through Sunday morning.

Additionally, the health fair, which is free for all attending guides, is the biggest one yet! It's an excellent opportunity to get blood work completed, an STD check, oral and skin cancer checks, immunizations, a chiropractic session with Dr. Rob, and so much more. The health fair is worth the ticket price alone!

We can't wait to see you there!

Jessica and Sammy founded River Newe in 2017 to increase representation and create spaces of equity through learning experiences on homelands with Shoshone-Bannocks, Indigenous, and minoritized communities on and off the river.
