On Wednesday, December 18th, 2024, we said goodbye to our little Lew. Every cat is special, but there will never be another Meriwether Lewis “Lew Batha” McCracken. Lew Lew was an old soul in a fluffy ragdoll body. He had personality and sass to spare, impeccable comedic timing, and the silliest, most impatient “mrow” — which translated roughly to “I’m too old for this sh*t” (he was only 6) and earned him the nickname granny Lew. He fought long & hard for ten months following his diagnosis in February 2024 with restrictive cardiomyopathy (RCM). He was truly a cat who loved life. He rarely napped and was always up and chatting, constantly asking to go outside to watch the hummingbirds and feel the breeze on his fur. He loved bathing, battles, and more than anything, being with his brother Clark. I could go on and on, but I know Lewis would be mrowing at me about now: “Give it a rest, mom—they get it.” Suffice to say, Lewis was a light in our lives, and our home feels a lot emptier without him in it. Rest In Peace, Lew Lew.
