(Train Assist Guide Serve), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is a service dog owner training program for veterans suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) and/or MST (Military Sexual Trauma). The veteran trains his/her personal dog with the help of experienced dog trainers. We have veterans who have served in conflicts ranging from Vietnam to present d

ay Iraq and Afghanistan. was incorporated on December 6, 2012. The Founders of the organization were veterans suffering from combat caused PTSD who knew the need for a program like this to help them heal. The program meets every week at the OTCH Dog Training Club located at 1 Souder Court, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050. The veterans have the opportunity to share their thoughts in a group setting with a social worker and then train their dogs to become their service dogs with qualified trainers to instruct and review training tasks. The Dog T.A.G.S. program is entirely staffed by unpaid volunteers. Along with qualified trainers, each training program has at least one certified Social Worker present to discuss any of the veterans needs. We are always accepting donations. Please contact us for more information.

“Lions and tigers and bears, Oh My!” Levels Three and Four had a big adventure at the Bass Pro Shops yesterday. They practiced safe entry and exit of an elevator, out of sight recalls, basic skills and teamwork with distractions. Present were Chrystal and Kaia, Roo, Scout and Dave, Lucy and Greg, and Dakota and Joe. Special thanks to Roo for her assistance!

There is no photo because you couldn’t see the dogs resting under the table. Yesterday, the Level Four dogs and their people went out for lunch for the first time!
Thank you Middlesex Diner near Carlisle for allowing us to practice in the dining room. Lunch was a success and Middlesex Diner invited us to come back again.

JULY 4 SAFETY:

🎆 Make sure your pets have identification tags or microchips with up-to-date information. Loud fireworks, unfamiliar places, and crowds can all be very frightening to pets, and there's a great risk of pets becoming spooked and running away.

🎇 Leave your pets at home. Consider putting your pets in a safe, escape-proof room or crate during parties and fireworks.

🎆 Keep sparklers, glow sticks, fireworks, charcoal, and kabob skewers away from curious pets.

🎇 Don't let pets get near your barbecue grill while it is in use or still hot.

🎆 Avoid the urge to feed your pets table scraps or other foods intended for people. Common human foods can actually be toxic to pets.

🎇 Remember that too much sun and heat (and humidity) can harm pets. Keep them inside when it's extremely hot/humid, and ensure they have access to shady spots and plenty of water outdoors. Don't leave pets outside for extended periods in hot weather. And know the signs that a pet may be overheating.

🎆 Never leave your pet in your car when it's warm outside. Vehicle interiors heat up much faster than the air around them, and even a short time in a locked car can be dangerous and lethal to pets.

🎇 If you're traveling out of town for the holiday, consider leaving your pets at home with a pet sitter or boarding them at a kennel facility.

🎆 Do not apply any sunscreen or insect repellent product to your pet that is not labeled specifically for use on animals. Ingestion of sunscreen products can result in drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, excessive thirst and lethargy. The misuse of insect repellent that contains DEET can lead to neurological problems.

🎇 After the celebrations, check your yard for fireworks debris before allowing pets outside to play or relax. Even if you didn't set off fireworks yourself, debris can make its way into your yard, where curious animals may pick it up to play with or eat.

Have a FUN and SAFE holiday everyone!! 🇺🇲
