We got our hands on Ellie Mae just in time. She went into heat this week and they 💯 would have bred her again. Spay and sinus surgeries are scheduled for Feb. No more babies here 🙌🏻

Ellie Mae had her vet appointment today.
* The breeder said she was 2-3 years old.
* She is 7-8 years old.
* Meaning she could have been forced to have upwards of 15 litters.
* Her soft pallet is too big for her size, so 15 litters of genetically inferior puppies out into the universe. Yay.
* X-rays show what the vet thinks is FISHING WIRE in her uterus, so they were either using the most unethical vet on the planet for c-sections or they were doing them “in-house”

I’m furious, but sadly not shocked. This is reality from these sad sack backyard breeders. And as long as people keep buying from them, it won’t stop.

We are waiting on bloodwork to determine next steps and what surgical intervention she is healthy enough for. Hopefully, we can get her spayed in the next few weeks.

Ultimately, she will likely stay here with the other genetic dumpster fires in our pack.

(There are still a lot of dogs on this property. We are working with some other groups to try and get this breeder to surrender the remaining dogs. We have plans in place if they decide to, but so far, they are not being cooperative.)

Everyone! We’d like to introduce Ellie Mae who is starting her “no more baby momma” life this week!

She was part of a multi-dog breeder surrender this past weekend and we are so excited for her to be home with us and our pack.

She has been very overbred, has really no idea how to be a dog, and is timid (but thankfully not terrified).

The pack is being SO KIND to her 🫶🏻 and made sure to show her where to sit for cookies! (even Cos is being sweet to her!)

She’ll see the dogtor tomorrow and we’ll have a better idea of her needs and what the next steps look like for her. ❤️❤️

(And before anyone asks, no, we are not opening back up for intake, we just couldn't not help this sweet face!)

We are babysitting our neighbor’s pack while they work to recover from hurricane and flooding damage. They had a tree fall into their house and lost their entire fence 😭 So we are helping best we can and letting their pack be part of our pack for a bit. Say hi to Gunsmoke, Loba, and Bandit!
