Reggie turned FIFTEEN today! 1!5!

We celebrated with snuggles, cake (that he shared with the pack), and he got a one day reprieve from getting his nailed clipped 😂.

We aren’t entirely sure of his actual birthday, but he came to us around St. Patrick’s Day and I have always felt so lucky 🍀 to be his mom. I call him my unicorn 🦄 because I’m positive there are unicorns at the end of the 🌈 along with the pot of gold. He loves every dog and human and has always been the best representative of his breed.

Reggie also brought luck to the thousands of dogs (and a couple of cats) that we rescued through Reggie’s Friends and we’d attest pretty lucky for those families who’s lives were made complete by the dogs we rescued.

He has and will always be the absolute center of my heart and the dog who our entire pack’s world 🌎 revolves around.

Happy happy birthday Reggie! There is so much love for you out in the universe ❤️🫶🏻🦄🐾

The photo that started it all.

My sweet baby Reggie in the shelter, where he was being a massive brat and annoying all of the other dogs with his dying orca whale impersonation.

The photo that brought me the love of my life (he was supposed to be daddy’s dog but he was mommy’s boy from day one).

The photo that started with a dog and resulted in thousands of dogs saved and lives changed.

About two months ago, we introduced you to our beautiful new addition Ellie Mae! She was rescued from a backyard breeder in rough shape after having been bred over and over for profit. We know that the breeder has/had upward of 30 dogs on the property. Of the first set that were rescued, a few were in such bad shape physically that the only option for their rescues was a kind and compassionate release to the Rainbow Bridge.

Thankfully, Ellie Mae was in "better" shape compared to some of the other dogs and has spent the last 7 weeks getting healthy, loving ALL the attention from literally everyone (do not even think you can walk through Home Depot without every single human wanting to love her!), and getting really into home renovations!

She gained enough weight and her bloodwork improved enough that the dogtor said she was healthy enough for surgery, so this week she joined the no-more-baby-momma club (aka was spayed) and had a procedure to help her breath better. She has a few weeks of recovery, but her quality of life should do nothing but improve ❤

In other great news, her breeder surrendered three more dogs from the property to us last week (we have no idea how many are actually still there) and we were able to get two of them into our friend's rescue and place another one in a loving home with one of our friends who has breed experience!

While we are not actively rescuing, we are thankful to be in a place to be an intermediary in this situation and are hopeful that in the coming months we can get ALL of the dogs off of this property into rescues and Sweet Lives.

We are babysitting our neighbor’s pack while they work to recover from hurricane and flooding damage. They had a tree fall into their house and lost their entire fence 😭 So we are helping best we can and letting their pack be part of our pack for a bit. Say hi to Gunsmoke, Loba, and Bandit! They very much love the giant outside water bowl 🤣🤣
