Want your business to be the top-listed Pet Store/pet Service?
Antler Dog Chews are a great product for your dogs to chew on. The antlers are all natural, so they are gentle on your dogs stomach. As your dog chews on the antler, it is cleaning their teeth along the way. They are long lasting and healthy for your four legged friend.
WHERE DOES INDIANA ANTLER SUPPLY GET THEIR ANTLERS FROM? This is the question that most people want to know right away. We are extremely proud to tell you how we get them. Each year male Elk, Moose, and Mule Deer grow antlers from late spring thru late summer. By late summer, the antlers are fully grown. The animals will keep these antlers until spring. This is when the magic happens! In the Spring, the antlers fall off, kind of like humans losing a tooth! The difference is that a human loses a tooth once, but these animals shed their antlers each year for their entire life! We have shed hunters that search for these antlers on the ground. Once Collected, we will clean them up and they are ready for your dogs to chew on!
Here is where Indiana Antler Supply differs from most Antler suppliers. Not only do we take pride that our antlers are natural sheds, but where we actually get these sheds will and should interest you! The majority of our antlers are coming from the National Elk Refuge in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The National Elk Refuge is a federally protected property consisting of 24,700 Acres. This is a safe haven for about 7,500 Elk each winter. The Elk stay in this area thru spring which is the time when Elk shed their antlers. This federally protected property allows the Boy Scouts of America to go find all the antlers they can find. The scouts have an Auction each year with their findings. Indiana Antler Supply attends the Scout Auction for purchasing most of our antlers.
Wait, There is more good news! What happens with the money that is raised at this Auction? Well, I am happy to explain. It is a lot of work finding the antlers, transporting them and prepping them for auction. The Scouts get to keep 25% of the money earned at the auction for their hard work. What about the other 75%? That is where it gets interesting! The remaining 75% goes back to the National Elk Refuge for maintaining the grounds to keep them as good as they can be for the Elk to return to a safe home each winter. There is a complex watering system on the Elk Refuge that money from this Auction fully funds.
