Today is the last day of operations for Protect The Harvest. It is a sad day for many as Protect the Harvest was an integral part of the agricultural community. Forrest Lucas put a lot into standing up for the American Farmer, even when he didn’t have to. So many great people were involved with Protect the Harvest and I hope their voices continue to be heard. I actually saw first hand the impact they had at the National FFA Convention and watched a wonderful woman named Betty put that entire experience together for the FFA youth. When our farm was on the FFA education tours, she made sure we had plenty of cool PTH swag to give to the kids and educational resources for their teachers. Being named one of their Friends of the Land was a huge honor.

This should now be a call to action. There are groups that we need to get behind and support. The animal rights groups in this country do not look at each other like competitors. Each one has their specialty, but when it comes to pass legislation or target farms or other animal enterprise, they work very well together. I have seen it first hand in statehouses. We need to do the same. Look to these groups, join one or join them all. Help them, support them.

Good morning! As the harvest continues in our area we wanted to recognize the role of women in the agricultural workforce. Globally women are responsible for producing nearly 50% of our food supply. Currently over 500 million women are involved in agriculture across the globe. LADIES...we see you out there moving equipment, driving trucks and tractors, and doing all of the things that make your operations move forward. Thanks for growing our food, fibers, flowers and medicine. Each of you are ROCKSTARS!

No idea when the roofing materials will be delivered but I now have an appointment for just after Thanksgiving to have the greenhouse roof replaced 💜

The greenhouse company finally ordered our roof materials ❣️
Once those arrive they will set the appointment to travel to our farm and make repairs. Meanwhile we are formulating plans to add some alternative growing activities to offset when these issues arise. Very exciting 💜

Hanging in there just like everybody else ❣️ It’s been rough to keep spirits up but every time I go into the greenhouse I know it’s all going to be okay. We have friends and family that constantly support us and how hard we’ve worked. As always we’ll keep moving forward with hard work and happy hearts and loving gratitude for this opportunity. 💜 🪴

So little to report, sadly. It’s going to take months for the greenhouse repair as installers seem to be booked out until January. January used to start our snowiest season but who knows anymore?
Meanwhile we can’t really grow so I’m beginning to work toward our winter preparations.
I rarely mention my partner/ daughter, but wish to acknowledge her continuing support and encouragement. Without her this would never have been possible and she has always borne the burden of this costly adventure. She is truly a Warrior Woman 💜💜💜

Well some bad news turned good!

The storms put multiple beaches through the greenhouse roof 😓
But! Other than the deductible the insurance is going to replace it💜

It is so frustrating to work hard and constantly having something take down our operation! Today our wet wall pump finally arrives. We lost everything again but this time to 100+ temps in the greenhouse when the pump burned out 😓. I can’t wait until I finally get some help to keep things up. It’s difficult for one person for sure.
To our supportive repeat customers, I am very sorry 💜
