recap!
Firstly, I want to say thank you to and for being such huge pillars of support and such great cheerleaders. Honestly wouldn't have been able to do it without them! Secondly, I'm honestly so shocked and very proud of myself, after 10 years out of the ring I did way better than I expected. I'm so grateful I was able to bring this wonderful dog, Pearl, she was absolutely incredible.
Some lessons I learned:
🌟 it's so important to have support at competitions, and community with our fellow groomers. We can't do this alone, and we are better for it when we help each other.
🌟 The difference between winning 1st or 2nd is often just a few stray hairs. Everyone on that stage is incredibly talented, and no one is perfect every time.
🌟 Competing is about learning, growing, and showing up compassionately for the animals.
🌟 I'm allowed to be proud of myself 😂 Groomers can be so self deprecating, but we are so incredible!
🌟 Keeping a dog looking good for 2 and 1/2 days until the Best in Show lineup is so hard! It's especially challenging when you've got that much time to stare at your mistakes 😂
I had such a fun time meeting all kinds of new friends and seeing familiar faces from back in the day. The facility and show were beautiful and I will definitely be back next year. Thank you to all the judges and facilitators!
