Did you know that excess weight can reduce your pets life expectancy by up to several years?

We understand it’s fun to feed them all the treats and snacks. (I mean, come on, look at that face!) But maintaining a healthy weight can lower the risk of many health problems such as arthritis, diabetes, respiratory concerns, high blood pressure, kidney disease and more.

If you have concerns about your pets weight see your veterinarian for information and help on how to keep them healthy and happy!

Look at our buddy Axel being a perfect gentleman during his laser therapy treatment the other day!

Laser therapy can be used to help with a variety of things including pain, inflammation, post operative healing, neurologic conditions and even some skin concerns.

Not all pets appreciate wearing goggles to protect their eyes during their treatment, but Axel was calm, cool and collected the whole time!

Below is an AVMA post with some great information on rabies!

Today is and this year's theme is "Breaking rabies boundaries,” which highlights that One Health is not for a selected few but for everyone. Here are some key takeaways from our "Rabies in the U.S." infographic.

✔️ The total cases in animals decreased in 2022 compared to 2021 by 2.3% - the third straight year cases decreased
🦇 Bats were the most frequently reported rabid animal in the U.S. in 2022. Over 1/3 of animal rabies cases in the U.S. in 2022 were bats.
0️⃣ Human cases of rabies in the U.S. in 2022

Remember, the best way to protect your animals from this deadly disease is through vaccination and to keep them away from wildlife that can spread the disease. Learn more at avma.org/Rabies.

What's that machine do?

There is a lot of funny looking equipment we have here in the clinic to treat your pets! Do you ever wonder what it's for?
This one is called a Bair Hugger and is great for heat support.
It runs controlled warm air into a sort of "blanket" that we wrap around your pet.
During anesthesia or while sick many patients struggle to maintain a good body temperature. We use this to keep them warm and comfortable. ☺

It's the tail end of August which is Itchy Pet awareness month! Excessive itching in pets is one of the most common reasons we see pets in the clinic. There are so many different reasons for excessive itchiness in pets. Though some pets see a decrease in this during the winter month, many pets struggle with it year round. If you see these symptoms don't hesitate to come in for an exam and help your animal friend feel better and more comfortable in their skin.
