The AAVSB just wrapped up an incredible week of team-building filled with collaboration, laughter, and a whole lot of fun! 🎉 From learning how all of our unique personalities work best together, to exciting group activities and a fierce cooking competition, the AAVSB staff truly brought their A-game. And to top it all off, we gave back by volunteering at the local food bank.
These events are invaluable for bringing our staff together for some much-needed quality time to catch up with those we don’t get to see often, and connect with new faces. After such a great week, we’re all feeling energized and ready to get back to serving our Member Boards and licensees!

The World Veterinary Association (WVA) created World Veterinary Day in 2000 as a celebration of the veterinary profession. This year’s theme is “Veterinarians are essential health workers.” An often overlooked part of veterinary medicine is the connection between animal health and physical, mental, and social health of humans. To everyone in the veterinary profession, thank you & Happy World Veterinary Day!

Do you really know what’s in those CBD treats you’ve been giving your pets? Without regulations in place, there’s no way to effectively determine safety, ingredients, or accurate dosage to help treat animals.

One way that the AAVSB fulfills our mission of supporting and advancing regulation in veterinary medicine is by providing our Practice Act Model and supporting Model Documents. These are not intended to be guidance documents, but rather, a resource for our Member Boards to consider after the decision to adopt a regulation has been made.

One of these Model Documents covers the growing topic of CBD use on companion animals. After extensive research, this document discusses the legalities, differences in jurisdictional approaches, and the fluidity surrounding the topic.

Read the full Model Documents on our website here: https://aavsb.org/board-services/member-board-resources/practice-act-model/

Live from Board Basics and Beyond! As we begin the last day of our spring meetings, we would like to thank everyone who came to the Spring Summit for Executive Directors and Registrars and Board Basics and Beyond.

We hope you gained valuable knowledge and skills this weekend and made some great connections. We look forward to seeing you in person again at our Annual Meeting and Conference in September!

To all the women making an impact in the field of veterinary medicine, Happy Women’s History Month!
