OPEN REGISTRATION for our next dog training session, to start Tuesday, January 21st, lasting eight weeks and scheduled to end March 11th. We do have makeup classes in case of bad weather, and we meet from 6:00 - 7:00 PM.

These classes are designed to prepare you and your dog to sit for a national therapy dog certification, as well as AKC Canine Good Citizen, but many owners also bring their dogs for socialization and improved behavior. We always have fun, with low stress and an understanding that there’s more than one set way to accomplish certain goals, as not all dogs react the same.

We’d love to have you join us in Greer at The Residences, just down the street from Greer Memorial Hospital. We have two spots open, so feel free to contact Lynn Bailey, at 864-205-6875, or Dana Dowling, at 919-605-5332, to reserve yours for $50. Sharing our own well behaved canines has been such a blessing over the past several years, and it’s a great way to give back to your local community and meet some great people!

Our final visit for 2024 was at Residences of Greer, where we also conduct therapy dog training classes. My sweet granddaughter, Lae, assisted by handing out candy canes, and we had Pearl (Golden Retriever), Stormy (smaller black Yorkiepoo), Blaize (talker black poodle), Pepper (larger buff colored Cavachon), and Bailey (small crème Havanese).

Lynn and I are so blessed to not only share our own pets with others, but to be a part of a local team that always rises to the occasion when requests for visits are received. We enjoy meeting dog owners and helping train and prepare those teams interested in giving back to their communities. The smiles that greet us at each visit are proof that it’s so much better to give than receive.

We want to wish each of you a Merry Christmas and hope that 2025 brings peace and joy to you all!

Polite Pups visited Residences of Greer for their second annual “Costume Party”. Each team handed out candy and visited with residents and staff. We all enjoyed a lively evening and look forward to returning soon!

A special “Congratulations” to a wonderful team from Columbia we certified on Saturday. This is Susanne and Zadira, who passed both therapy dog (Bright & Beautiful Therapy Dogs) and AKC Canine Good Citizen tests with flying colors. Susanne always brings us such beautiful and well-mannered Borzois, with Zadira being the third we’ve had the pleasure to meet! I’m certain he will be able to balance his show ring and lure coursing activities with bringing smiles to many faces in the Columbia vicinity!

Another Wofford campus visit in the books for Pearl, Pepper, and our newest certified team, Leslie and Annabelle! This was a special occasion, as Leslie is a Wofford alumnus. Students and dogs alike had a great time, and I’m very thankful for the teams in our area who give time selflessly to enrich the lives of those who may be missing their own pets back home.

Registration is now open for our next 8-week dog training classes, to begin either Oct. 1st or Oct. 8th. A deposit of $50 will hold your spot on our roster, and we meet from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesdays. We meet near Greer Memorial Hospital and we certify therapy dogs, as well as AKC Canine Good Citizen. We have a fun group that visits locally, so if you’re interested, or especially if you need a different night to meet, please contact Lynn, at 864-205-6875, or Dana, at 919-607-5332.

New Dog Training Location!

Polite Pup, LLC is exploring interest in conducting one of our 8-week dog training sessions in Lyman. These classes would be held at the Tyger River Fire Department, 355 Locust Street (near KJ's and the QT), just off Hwy. 29. We are hoping this would provide a convenient location for Greer, Taylors and West Spartanburg teams without having to travel to our other locations near Westgate Mall or near Greer Memorial Hospital.

If you're interested in preparing your dog for therapy visit work or Canine Good Citizen certification, or simply just seek a better-mannered pup, please contact Lynn Bailey, at (864)205-6875, or Dana Dowling, at (919) 607-5332. I want to wholeheartedly wish a great big “Congratulations” to the latest members of our Bright & Beautiful Therapy Dog team. Lynn Bailey, my training partner and the “other half” of Polite Pup, LLC, along with her Mini-Poodle, Blaize, passed their certification exam last week. I can’t wait to see them both in action soon, brightening days and bringing smiles with their visits!

Our last campus visit for this term found the Doggie Do-Gooders at Wofford College, where many students and faculty took time to visit and relax for just a bit before preparing for final exams. As always, our wonderful pets enjoyed meeting so many great people as they shared their special love and compassion with everyone they met. Many thanks to these generous dog owners who volunteer their time to show others what we already know about our fur babies; that being their unique ability to connect with others to transport them to a situation where they can relax and put their studies behind, even if just for a short time. A special shout-out to Lisa Lefebvre for helping to coordinate these visits to Wofford, and "good luck" to all the students as they wrap up this semester - see you in the fall!

Our Doggie Do-Gooders from Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs were at it again, visiting students at Spartanburg Methodist College just before final exams. As you can see, students, faculty and the dogs all had a great time just being together and relaxing. A special thanks to Dr. Mindy Bliss at SMC for helping to set up these visits on 4/25 and 4/29. Also, an extra special "thank you" to Susanne and Zvezda, the sweet Borzoi, for traveling from Columbia to join us in Spartanburg!
