Angels For Sara Sanctuary

Angels For Sara Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 rescue to help place senior dogs in their forever homes We are funded by donations, grants and sponsors.

We are a small non-profit group providing quality care to the senior dogs that have been left at shelters. We are made up of volunteers, sponsors, veterinarians and many other great people. We promote awareness on long term care and responsibility for the senior dogs.

Meet our newest little girl, Honey Bear. She is a Pom mix about 12 years old, weighs 15 pounds.
She came to us from Multnomah County Animal shelter as a stray.
We went to Bayshore Animal hospital yesterday and got all of her blood work done and exam so are waiting for results. But she seems like she's in relatively good condition. She does have a little ear infection going on and some skin issues which we are working on.
She is an incredibly sweet little girl who absolutely loves squeaky toys, sitting in your lap or being close by you. Gets along with all the other dogs and the kitties and she'll be looking for a new home after we get all the blood work back and seeing what all she needs to have done.

Look at this sweet little man Buckwheat . He is feeling so much better with his new medications and zooming around the yard. You could never tell he has a very bad heart. He is such a little love bug.
It would be incredibly awesome if we could find him a forever foster home for however long he'll be around. A home where he could have a yard to run around in, maybe short walks, maybe another little dog or Kitty to hang out with and most importantly a loving lap to lay on or next to.
Being a forever foster home means we will continue taking care of the medical needs for the dog. You would just supply everything else.

Three of our littles, Buckwheat and Lilly enjoying a nap together and Schatzi our little mini Schnauzer.

Buckwheat, our newest is doing pretty good on his meds. His little heart feels like it would like to jump out, but it doesn't slow him down. He is on heart meds and he does have a great six heart murmur. He loves interacting with the other dogs, following them around and going outside to explore. He would need a home with a fence yard. Not sure how long he has,but he is happy and loving.
If you would like to open your heart and your home to be a forever foster home, we would cover all his medical needs.

Lilly is a 10 year old chihuahua about 4 pounds. She is healthy, but very timid and skittish. She loves playing with squeaky toys, being carried, being close by her human. She never learned to go outside to potty, but will if carried outside and stay with her, and she uses p*e pads. Would do best in a quiet home, no children and maybe one other dog or kitty.

Schatzi is our 17 year old mini Schnauzer about 9 pounds who is on heart meds and has cushions disease. She is extremely loving, loves to be close by her people She loves squeaky toys and gets along with all the dogs and kitties.
She is looking for a forever foster home because we don't know how long she'll be with us and she would love to be in her very own home. She loves to be out in the yard exploring so she would need a fenced yard and prefer a home with someone there most of the time, and no children.
That she would be a forever foster we would cover all of her medical bills.

Rascal had a great day today at Petco. Thank you everyone who stopped by to say hello to him. He enjoyed the attention.

He is 13 years old. Loves to go for short walks, car rides, snuggles and hanging out with his human. He loves sleeping in bed with you.
He would do best in a home with maybe one other dog his size, someone who is retired or works from home. He gets anxious if he's alone for very long.
He does not care for children so would have to be a home where there were no children. He needs a fenced yard because he loves to be out in the yard to explore or just roll around in the grass.

Meet our newest little man. His name is Buckwheat he is a little 9-year-old Chihuahua. He came to us from RASK up in Seattle. He had been picked up as a stray and brought to the shelter there. When they examined him they found that he had a bad heart, was in need of a dental, and needed neutered.
We took him into our vet Monday to get him checked out and found out that he has a huge heart and he's a gread six heart murmur. So he's unable to have a dental or neutered because he most likely wouldn't make it.
Because of his health issues, he is here for hospice care and will live out the remainder of his little life with medication to make his heart a little easier, lots and lots of love and other little puppy friends to hang out with.
This is a part of our program here at Angels For Sara Sanctuary helping the senior dogs when they are too sick to find a forever home or foster home they will just stay here with us getting the best care possible.

Meet a couple of our new fur kids.

Goldie, an 11 year old Pitty mix.
Her dad passed away and she had nowhere to go. So some kind people called us to see if we could take her in. Normally we do not take dogs in this big but since she was local we were happy to help.
She is so very sweet, loves hugs pets and kisses. Loves to talk. Gets along with kitties and other dogs. Would do best in a home where there's someone there most the time.

Lily came to us a few years back was put in a very nice home. But her mom had to go into a nursing home so she came back to us she is a chihuahua, and only about 5 lb. She loves snuggles sitting close to you and playing with her toys. She loves for you to toss them and she'll bring them right back to you. She loves to be held and in your arms wherever you go. She gets along with kitties and tolerates other small dogs. I do best in a home with somebody that's around most the time and can give her the attention she wants.

We require that our homes have fenced yards for these dogs so they will have a place to go out and roll around, sniff, explore and be safe.

UPDATE: Teddy is now in a foster to adopt home with a lovely family.

Teddy did very well with his surgeries. He has maybe four teeth left. He had three pulled and then all the others were missing lol.
He was neutered, and the tumor was removed. They are sending that in for biopsy see what comes back as. He already is feeling much better. He wanted his dinner since he missed his breakfast. And now he just wants to lay out with all the other furkids.

The total of the bill for the three surgeries is $1252.

We appreciate all the support and donations you give to us. Without these we would not be able to do these medical needs for these babies.

Sweet little Teddy is at Bayshore today. He's got a few surgeries going on so say a prayer for him. He's going to have a dental, he's going to be neutered and he's going to have the tumor removed. So that's a lot for a little guy so let's send him good energy that he'll be fine and feel so much better afterwards. Then we can find him is very own home.

Want to send a huge thank you to Petco, in Warrenton OR for hosting us for Photos With Santa and all the great people that turned out to support us.
You helped us raise over $800.00 dollars. 100% of this money will go towards the senior dogs needs. We could not do this without all your help.
We had a lot of fun and enjoyed meeting great people and their furry and human kids.

The past few weeks have been exceptionally busy. Dinky has been successfully adopted. Ralph was adopted just a couple of days ago. Gigi is currently residing in a foster home and is seeking a permanent residence. Trooper has found his forever foster home with a senior mom.
Teddy recently visited the veterinarian for a tumor examination. We have scheduled an appointment for December 26th, which will include a dental procedure, neutering, tumor removal, and a biopsy.
Schatzi, Rascal, and Teddy are still residing at the sanctuary, and we anticipate the arrival of a new canine companion on the 20th. Please stay tuned for further updates.
Tomorrow, we will be accompanying Rascal to Riverdog Astoria Pet Supply, and we cordially invite you to meet him. He would make a wonderful companion for the right individual. We will be present from noon until 2:00 pm, and we look forward to your visit.

We are pleased to introduce Teddy, our newest shelter resident. Teddy joined us last week from Multnomah County shelter. He is about 10 years old, very affectionate, and has several health concerns. A dental procedure is forthcoming, potentially involving the extraction of all his teeth. Additionally, he has multiple tumors, including one large tumor, which require examination and likely removal. Although deaf, Teddy's vision remains relatively intact, and he gets along well with the other dogs and cats at our shelter. He is scheduled for veterinary evaluation on the 17th, and we will keep you updated. Any contributions towards Teddy's veterinary care would be greatly appreciated.

Yesterday was a wonderful day, and we would like to thank everyone who came out to interact with the dogs. We also had an application for Trooper and were pleased that many people took the opportunity to meet him. Additionally, we received considerable interest in the other small dogs.

Today, we will be at Petco again from noon until 3:00 pm for photos with Santa. Please bring your pets, children, or significant others to get their pictures taken with Santa.
We are asking for a $10 donation, which will be donated in its entirety to the Senior Dogs Sanctuary, helping to cover their veterinary bills, food, and other essential needs. Your support and donations are crucial to us, and we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for all that you do for us.

We are at Petco today in Warrington Oregon from noon until 2:00 p.m. we will have four little dogs with us so you can come and visit them. They are all looking for a home.

As a volunteer-driven rescue organization, we rely solely on donations to support the Angels For Sara Sanctuary, which provides essential care and services for our senior dogs. A number of our dogs are under hospice care, and we are dedicated to finding them permanent foster homes where they can receive the love and care they deserve. Gigi, my little blueberry picker

We had to say goodbye to another special little angel. Roxy has been having some problems, we weren't sure what was going on. We found out the other day that her heart was extra large and pushing up on some of her other organs and her trachea. Couple days ago she started coughing non-stop. Took her in today and they did some more x-rays and found out that her trachea was a Grade 4 and had closed off. Today she has her wings and is flying high and jumping the clouds. We will miss that little happy girl.

We said Goodbye to our sweet little Micah yesterday. Micha came to us September 15th 2022 from RASK in King County Washington. His owners could no longer keep him and since he was older and skin in such bad condition wanted to euthanasia him. The wonderful staff saw hope with Micha and contacted us. We found his perfect forever mom, Fran, who lived alone and lost her dog awhile earlier. It was instant love between them. For a year Fran worked with Tina at From Scruffy to Fluffy Grooming for medicated baths for a year twice a week. Micha's skin and hair went from stiff, scally and itchy to soft and smooth. His mom took him to agility with a small local group, where he had so much fun. She would take him for fun walks and to the beach. A few months ago Micha started having seizures and his mom NEVER left his side. Sadly yesterday Micah had several bad seizures so it was time to say goodbye. We thank Oceanside Vet in Seaview for getting him in so quickly, Dr.Clark who was so kind and caring in helping Micah in transitioning to his new journey and the rest of the staff. You will be missed little man

Angels For Sara Sanctuary will be at Riverdog Astoria at 14th and Duane with Santa tomorrow, December 2nd, for photos with Santa. We will be there from noon until 4pm. We are asking for a $10.00 donation that will go towards the care of the Senior dogs. Please remember..... All pets must be on a leash, in a kennel or a cage. Keeping everyone safe, is a must!

Today Roxy saw Dr. K. She did very good and made lots of new friends. Had x-rays and ultrasound on her tummy, still unsure of what is going on so we scheduled her dental for this coming Friday, then when she feels better, we will see about exploratory surgery to see if we can figure out what is going on. We will keep you updated.

Kit's vet visit went very good today. She is scheduled for her dental on Tuesday, then after she feels better she will be ready for her foster to adopt home. Stop by Riverdog Astoria Pet Supply on Saturday the 14th and meet her. We will be there from noon until 2pm.

We will be at Riverdog Astoria TODAY, Saturday the 19th from noon until 2. Come out and meet Charlie who is an 11 pound, about 8 years old, happy Pomeranian mix. He is great with other dogs and cats, loves attention, going for walks and lots of snuggles.

Ocho is in his forever home with Princess, aka Zoe and other fur friends. Way to go Ocho!!
