Angels For Sara Sanctuary Angels For Sara Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 rescue to help place senior dogs in their forever homes We are funded by donations, grants and sponsors.

We are a small non-profit group providing quality care to the senior dogs that have been left at shelters. We are made up of volunteers, sponsors, veterinarians and many other great people. We promote awareness on long term care and responsibility for the senior dogs.

It's Saturday January 11 we will be at Riverdog Astoria on 14th and Duane in Astoria from noon until 2:00 p.m.

Come down and say hi to these lovely furkids.

We have a small change in dogs that we will be bringing, our newest dog Goldie will be coming, Schatzi will be coming and hopefully Gigi will be coming. So if you'd like to meet one of these dogs we would love to see you and they would love to meet you.

Meet a couple of our new fur kids.

Goldie, an 11 year old Pitty mix.
Her dad passed away and she had nowhere to go. So some kind people called us to see if we could take her in. Normally we do not take dogs in this big but since she was local we were happy to help.
She is so very sweet, loves hugs pets and kisses. Loves to talk. Gets along with kitties and other dogs. Would do best in a home where there's someone there most the time.

Lily came to us a few years back was put in a very nice home. But her mom had to go into a nursing home so she came back to us she is a chihuahua, and only about 5 lb. She loves snuggles sitting close to you and playing with her toys. She loves for you to toss them and she'll bring them right back to you. She loves to be held and in your arms wherever you go. She gets along with kitties and tolerates other small dogs. I do best in a home with somebody that's around most the time and can give her the attention she wants.

Saturday the 11th we will be at Riverdog from noon till 2pm
Rascal is still looking for his forever home along with Schatzi looking for hers.
Come by and visit them and maybe you can help them find their new homes.

Rascal is a 13-year-old Pomeranian. He's very sweet and loving. He loves car rides, short walks, snuggling next to his human in their chair or in their bed. He tolerates cats, and gets along with most dogs. Smaller dogs he is kind of bossy towards. He would need a fenced yard where he can go out and roll, sniff around and explore. He would do best in a home where someone is there most of the time as he tends to get a little anxious when no one is home. He just likes to pace and howl, but it's quiet howl, so possibly someone retired or works from home. He would not do well with children.

Schatzi is a 16 year old mini Schnauzer. She is a happy little girl, and likes to snuggle. She would do short walks and likes car rides. She is on medications for an enlarged heart and Cushing's disease. She would need a fenced yard because she loves being outside, especially if you have an apple tree. She likes to explore and roll in the grass. She would do best in home with no children. She gets along with other dogs and cats. She sleeps most the day, but would love to sit up in a chair next to you. Because of her medical issues she would be a forever foster, by that we mean she would still be the sanctuary's dog but you would be fostering her and giving her all the love, treats toys, she loves squeaky toys. We would cover all her medical needs and her medications but she would at least have her very own home to grow old in with her very own people.

Thank you everyone that came out to see Rascal and Heidi today. It was so nice meeting so many people. We've got several applications on Heidi, so now comes the tough job of finding what home that fits Heidi's needs best.

UPDATE: Teddy is now in a foster to adopt home with a lovely family.

Teddy did very well with his surgeries. He has maybe four teeth left. He had three pulled and then all the others were missing lol.
He was neutered, and the tumor was removed. They are sending that in for biopsy see what comes back as. He already is feeling much better. He wanted his dinner since he missed his breakfast. And now he just wants to lay out with all the other furkids.

The total of the bill for the three surgeries is $1252.

We appreciate all the support and donations you give to us. Without these we would not be able to do these medical needs for these babies.

Sweet little Teddy is at Bayshore today. He's got a few surgeries going on so say a prayer for him. He's going to have a dental, he's going to be neutered and he's going to have the tumor removed. So that's a lot for a little guy so let's send him good energy that he'll be fine and feel so much better afterwards. Then we can find him is very own home.

Want to send a huge thank you to Petco, in Warrenton OR for hosting us for Photos With Santa and all the great people that turned out to support us.
You helped us raise over $800.00 dollars. 100% of this money will go towards the senior dogs needs. We could not do this without all your help.

The past few weeks have been exceptionally busy. Dinky has been successfully adopted. Ralph was adopted just a couple of days ago. Gigi is currently residing in a foster home and is seeking a permanent residence. Trooper has found his forever foster home with a senior mom.
Teddy recently visited the veterinarian for a tumor examination. We have scheduled an appointment for December 26th, which will include a dental procedure, neutering, tumor removal, and a biopsy.
Schatzi, Rascal, and Teddy are still residing at the sanctuary, and we anticipate the arrival of a new canine companion on the 20th. Please stay tuned for further updates.
Tomorrow, we will be accompanying Rascal to Riverdog Astoria Pet Supply, and we cordially invite you to meet him. He would make a wonderful companion for the right individual. We will be present from noon until 2:00 pm, and we look forward to your visit.

Rascal went to a Foster to adopt home today.
Thank you everyone that came out to our events to meet the furkids.

Rascal, a 13-year-old "throw back" Pomeranian weighing approximately 14 pounds, is currently awaiting his forever home. He does have a cataract in one eye, so he does not see out of that eye very well. It has been checked by the vets and they said he's and no pain and it does not seem to be bothering him.
This charming canine is known for his affectionate nature, enjoying activities such as lap sitting, leisurely walks, and car rides. He also has a fondness for puppuccinos. Rascal gets along with most small dogs and is tolerant of cats. His ideal living situation would be a home with a fenced yard, where he can explore the yard, then come in and spend his days lounging in someone's lap.

We are pleased to introduce Teddy, our newest shelter resident. Teddy joined us last week from Multnomah County shelter. He is about 10 years old, very affectionate, and has several health concerns. A dental procedure is forthcoming, potentially involving the extraction of all his teeth. Additionally, he has multiple tumors, including one large tumor, which require examination and likely removal. Although deaf, Teddy's vision remains relatively intact, and he gets along well with the other dogs and cats at our shelter. He is scheduled for veterinary evaluation on the 17th, and we will keep you updated. Any contributions towards Teddy's veterinary care would be greatly appreciated.

Yesterday was a wonderful day, and we would like to thank everyone who came out to interact with the dogs. We also had an application for Trooper and were pleased that many people took the opportunity to meet him. Additionally, we received considerable interest in the other small dogs.

Today, we will be at Petco again from noon until 3:00 pm for photos with Santa. Please bring your pets, children, or significant others to get their pictures taken with Santa.
We are asking for a $10 donation, which will be donated in its entirety to the Senior Dogs Sanctuary, helping to cover their veterinary bills, food, and other essential needs. Your support and donations are crucial to us, and we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for all that you do for us.

On this Giving Tuesday, we invite you to join us in celebrating our 10th anniversary. This year has been especially demanding, with many of our dogs requiring additional surgeries. As a volunteer-driven rescue organization, we rely solely on donations to support the Angels For Sara Sanctuary, which provides essential care and services for our senior dogs. A number of our dogs are under hospice care, and we are dedicated to finding them permanent foster homes where they can receive the love and care they deserve. We remain committed to covering their medical expenses, ensuring they continue to receive the highest level of care. Most of our dogs have ongoing medical needs, and we work tirelessly to find them suitable forever homes. In instances where a hospice dog's condition is particularly severe, we provide a loving and supportive environment at the sanctuary until the end of their journey. Our sweet little Rascal is almost ready to find his very own home. He had the fatty tumor removed from his chest, we've had his skin condition cleared up. He's had a dental and soon he will be looking for his very own home.
He is a bigger Pomeranian about 14 lb and 13 years old. His mama had to give him up because of health reasons. He was the apple of her eye.
He gets along with the other dogs and kitties here at the sanctuary, but would prefer to be the only dog or maybe one other one. He loves to sit in your lap and get lots of cuddles or lay close to you on the floor by your chair or your bed. He likes going for short walks and car rides.
We are looking for a home where there is not much activity or children. Preferably retired lady or couple. Someone that can be there with him and give him lots of loving.

Gigi, my little blueberry picker

We had to say goodbye to another special little angel. Roxy has been having some problems, we weren't sure what was going on. We found out the other day that her heart was extra large and pushing up on some of her other organs and her trachea. Couple days ago she started coughing non-stop. Took her in today and they did some more x-rays and found out that her trachea was a Grade 4 and had closed off. Today she has her wings and is flying high and jumping the clouds. We will miss that little happy girl.
