These are the pets that have arrived at the shelter over the last few days and we want to get them home to their owners. Please DO NOT apply for these animals as they are strays waiting to find their family! If you recognize any of them, please call us at (434) 973-5959 or stop by the shelter from 12-6pm. These animals are not available for adoption until their stray hold is over and they have been spayed/neutered. They will be posted to our website at that time if they are not redeemed. Thank you for your help in getting these animals home!

The Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA is thrilled to be headed to the Virginia Roller Derby Network and Charlottesville Derby Dames' first doubleheader of the 2024 season at the Augusta Expo Center in Fishersville, VA! 🐶📣

CASPCA staff, volunteers, and PUPPIES will be there this Saturday from 12:15PM to 5PM to share information, collect donations, and distribute lots of doggy cuddles.

This pretty lady was brought to the shelter as a nursing mama with two sweet babies. While her kittens have found their perfect matches, Babe is still waiting for her own happy ending.

She has had her spay surgery, been microchipped and is up to date on her vaccines! Come meet her at the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA shelter any day of the week from noon to 6 p.m.

They'll be offering sips, sweets and shopping to support the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA from 1pm - 4pm. 20% of all proceeds will automatically benefit the shelter! Groot can hardly stand to see our Pet Pantry shelves so bare! Our Pet Food Pantry supports pet owners in need — no questions asked! We need your support to keep dry or canned food for cats, kittens, puppies, and dogs in stock to help us keep our community pets where they belong — with their families.

When grabbing groceries or swinging by the pet store this week, could you add a bag or some cans to help our community? We accept donations of any food brand or type. Looking for the most laid back dynamic duo? Material Girl and Pixie have been in our care since February and we are hoping to find them their perfect match! These two girls are excellent doggy playgroup stars- often helping other dogs find their play styles and confidence! They are very quiet, calm, and laid back dogs who are just looking for a yard to sunbathe in, and a bed to snuggle up on! Mattie and Pixie both show excellent leash manners and are up for many adventures! Come and meet these awesome girls today! 🐾

Cinnamon Sugar Donut arrived at CASPCA in December 2023 through no fault of her own. She was a sweet girl, but unfortunately, she had some GI issues that needed treatment by our clinic staff. After spending some time on a specific diet and in a loving foster home, she began to get on the right track with her health. She was adopted in March 2023, and we recently checked in:

“Cinnamon is doing fantastic. She is the best cat. She is a sassy cat who gets what she wants when she wants! She’s the best snuggle buddy and comforter. I am beyond happy I was able to adopt her. She makes me so so happy!!"

Chipmunk came to us in June 2021 when he was found wandering around an apartment complex. He was such a sweet boy that his finder fell in love with him and couldn't resist adopting him after his stray hold! Jolene was found wandering onto a property after being left behind when her owners moved away. After spending some time in the shelter, she was sent to foster care, and her foster family fell in love with her! We recently checked in to see how the dynamic duo was doing:

"I found Manchego (aka Manny formerly known as Chipmunk at CASPCA) roaming around the grounds of my old apartment complex in June 2021. I brought him to CASPCA with hopes of reuniting him with his family. After awaiting his stray hold and not being reclaimed, I felt in my bones he was meant to be mine and adopted him right away. He now spends his days being absolutely pampered. He loves sunbathing in a cozy bed or rolling around in a soft patch of grass. He is a diabolical mix of sweet, salty, lazy, goofy, melodramatic, and spoiled in all the best ways. It’s his world and I’m just living in it! While we are working through some reactivity challenges he’s really a great dog and has been my best friend these past 3 years.

I began fostering with CASPCA earlier this year. I knew I’d be ready to foster fail if I found the right match for Manny and I. I fostered Miso (fka Jolene at CASPCA) for about 2 weeks and fell in love with her sweet personality and crooked underbite immediately. As time went on I knew more and more I wouldn’t be okay to see her adopted into any other home but my own. What sold it for me was watching Manny and Miso develop a sweet sibling relationship with each other. She’s lavishing in the spoiled life now. Miso loves to go for walks and soaks up any attention and affection she can get like a sponge. Her tail truly never stops wagging and she’s happiest wherever the people are. I can’t imagine life without my besties and thank CASPCA for helping to connect me with my forever friends and for all they do for animals in our area."

We are so happy to see Chipmunk and Jolene thriving in a wonderful home! If you are interested in giving a shelter pet a new beginning, stop by the shelter during our open hours and meet some awesome animals!

Meet Astro- our 3-year-old Bearded Collie mix! This reserved gentleman just came back from his awesome foster home and is ready to find his perfect match! He bonded quickly to his people, loved bones and squeaker toys, and loves to crawl onto the couch for a snuggle! Calling all German Shepherd fans! ❤️ Look at this gorgeous boy! Meet Harley! This 2-year-old guy is a pro when it comes to walks! Harley walks well on a leash, allowing you to enjoy a peaceful stroll without any tugs or pulls. While he may not be the cuddliest, he makes up for it with his friendly demeanor and attentive nature. Harley is also a quick learner, having mastered the ‘sit’ command. He is also house trained!
