Stop tossing your companions out, because you are sentencing them to DEATH! We reject approx. 20 surrender requests per WEEK, because we cannot take them in.

Your fluffy companions are not disposable objects. They are commitments that are equivalent to your human companions! If you do not think they are, do not bring one into your life.

Our website is down and will remain this way until we get operational support. We are no longer able to afford simple things like AWS to host our needs.

We have a huge outstanding bill with St. Francis Veterinary Hospital that we are unable to put a dent in as well.

Soon without support, we will be forced to shut down.

Yesterday was a very scary moment for one of our pups. Mako was rushed to Lafayette Veterinary Care Center as he was moments away from the rainbow bridge.

EVERYONE watch your pups while outdoors. Huskies are curious and love adventures and Mako is one of our most outdoorsy pups. He was bitten by a water moccasin. The vet mentioned that this was the 3rd bite they were tending to. As we all venture out for fun, be very careful and keep your pups in eyesight!

This post is for the garbage humans that toss animals away like candy wrappers.

You are a bad human for abandoning YOUR companion.
You are a bad living creature when you throw away a life that depends on you night and day.
You are a bad human for loving one minute, then hate the next, then dispose of YOUR companion.
You are willfully ignorant for not knowing about this breed then tossing it away when you traumatize and damage YOUR companion beyond help.

We have a very difficult decision to make with Mako. But we have no more options, no resources, no money and no hope at this point. Thank you to those that tried to assist AND a thank you to those that chose to leave our messages for help on read.

It is not our fault that when we reach out for help, that it gets ignored. It is not our fault because people are destructive with innocent lives. It is not our fault people hurt animals. It is not our fault for all the tears we shed today. Its not our fault we thoroughly vet our applicants. Its not our fault we expect great people to take care of our rescues while in our care. We have saved hundreds of huskies, but tomorrow we will have to voluntarily put down our first in 4 years of rescue.

You think having a pet is a game? A game where you just hand off a problem you created so your life can be better? You think it's a game to damage an innocent life that depends on you 100% of its life and has no choice under your care, or lack thereof? You think lives are disposable?

I Tim A. Washington, Founder of this organization have 5 huskies. I would never dispose of them. Even if I lost my house and everything I owned, we would all die together as a family. All of my furry companions were rescued from sh*tty human beings that:

- Abandoned Tera in 2011 by throwing her out of a window in a moving car as a puppy and shattered her hip and left her to die.

- Overbred a momma in 2015. that had Ella, whom has seizures throughout her life randomly as a puppy mill baby that got shut down in Texas.

- Disposed of Dragster in 2019, because she choose a new boyfriend over her companion puppy she had for a year prior to meeting him.

- Locked Shelly in a metal horse trailer in 2021 because they didn't know what to do with her as her predatory instincts were not managed so she killed small creatures and was never trained NOT TO.

- Threatened to euthanize Katiya because she was born a runt of the litter with a missing paw and the "breeder" said "I don't know what to do with her, I can't sell her."

So yes, I am mad! The organization has to play executioner because YOU garbage people, destroy anything you touch and organizations like mine have to clean up after YOU. I have to play executioner because other organizations are overflowing and can not help us with a special case pup. I have to play executioner because we lack donations and resources to PAY for advanced help. And I'm angry because of what I have to do tomorrow morning. It is because of YOU, garbage people, that damage our genuinely loving souls with your garbage ways. I am also mad as I watch countless people donate to WEALTHY people that beg for money yet good organizations like ours get spat on.

And see my face, LOOK AT IT, because this is the face that bankrupts himself to self fund this organization month my month, hoping to make change and gets little to no support for all we do, ALL WHILE CLEANING UP THE DESTRUCTION YOU garbage people create. I will call out bs when it comes to caring for this breed. And while I chose this path, I want YOU garage people to know that YOU are garbage. Especially in a society that scream and shout "A life is a life," but YOU destroy, traumatize, neglect, and abuse life after it's born.

Keep being garbage. We will be the light for this breed. We will continue saving lives as best we can. I, more like, we at Louisiana Husky Rescue don't want your "thoughts and prayers" or your retaliatory feelings or your general empty statements.

We want support.
We want ACTION with help.
We want good people to take care of their furbabies.
We want loving families to adopt instead of shopping for companions.
We want support from our communities statewide.

Meet Mako - 🚨SPECIAL NEEDS🚨 – ⚠️Behavior⚠️

Mako is a 3 yr old husky looking for a long-term foster or foster to adopt home. Mako came to the Louisiana Husky Rescue with minimal to no socialization with humans or other dogs and has been reinforced that it is acceptable to put his mouth on humans when he does not get what he wants.

Mako is currently living in a transitional foster home with his foster mom and four foster dog siblings. There he has been vetted, neutered, fully vaccinated, and updated on all his preventatives. Mako’s foster mom is a long-time husky owner and has experience working with dangerous and aggressive dogs. In his time there

Mako has been working on muzzle training, basic obedience, slow environmental exposure, meeting new people, and basic separation anxiety protocols. He is currently on, and must remain on, daily anti-anxiety meds to help with his separation and generalized anxiety.

Mako can be a sweet, sassy, and goofy dog when he’s comfortable and trusts the person. He is gaining a lot of confidence and with his inability to respect dog corrections, and subsequently push those dogs, he has become a bully and instigator. For this primary reason, Mako will need to be the only dog in the home. Additionally, he does have a prey drive and would not be safe with other small animals. He walks mostly well on leash, follows basic commands, and has a decent recall.

He is incredibly treat motivated and will do many things for food. He still has trust issues and performing slow cooperative care protocols will enhance his muzzle wearing and grooming capabilities. He is highly intelligent and loves to play which gets him into trouble at times. He will entertain himself but prefers to antagonize his foster siblings first and foremost. Mako is a decent running buddy and it serves him well an outlet to burn energy, but is not required. When Mako is bored or is not getting his way, he can become destructive and irritating. We are working on not barking indoors as that is his primary method of demanding things from me and the other dogs. This is one way he gets himself in trouble with the pack and I.



Requirements for Mako:

- ‼️ MUST work with a certified behaviorist/force free trainer

o Fear/force free training experience a plus be willing to work with a behavior vet to continue his rehabilitation

- ‼️ No kids at all

- ‼️ No small animals

- ‼️ Behavior dog experience a plus

- ‼️ Only dog in the home
