When looking for a treat that lasts a long time and keeps your pet busy, avoid reaching for things such as bones, antlers, yak cheese, and Nylabones. These treats are too hard and can break their teeth, leading to extreme pain and sensitivity to temperatures. In celebration of World Animal Enrichment Day, we wanted to provide you with some alternatives that are safe for their teeth and will provide some mental enrichment as well!

Josie is a spunky 13 year old gal that has too much energy to sit still. Using the cozy wrap, along with some calming medication, made placing a IV catheter a breeze. Give this a like if you think Josie makes the cutest purrito ever 💜

During a recent dental procedure, we encountered a case involving an epiglottis mass in a dog. This condition can become critical as it can obstruct the airway and affect breathing. Dental cleanings not only allow us to keep your pets’ teeth clean and healthy, but it also allows us to thoroughly examine their oral cavity and detect these issues early on. Don’t miss this behind-the-scenes look at veterinary dentistry! Watch as Dr. Doubleday carefully and skillfully extracts this giant canine (fang) tooth on Scout. After performing an oral examination and taking dental radiographs, it was determined that the tooth had pulpits, or inflammation of the pulp. This was likely due to trauma from chewing on hard objects. Without treatment, these teeth can become infected and abscess. Treatment options were to either extract the tooth or refer to a specialist for root canal therapy.
