Look at that canine! Yet another crazy case of tooth resorption.

Tooth resorption (TR) is estimated to affect anywhere from 20-75% of cats. While TR can affect cats of any age, its prevalence increases in cats over the age of 5. Tooth resorption begins at the roots and then progresses to the crown (as seen in this photo). Full mouth dental radiographs are essential to identifying TR before it involves the crown and becomes extremely painful.

The cause of TR is still unknown and unpreventable, therefore making yearly cleanings with dental radiographs even more important for our feline friends.

Thank you to everyone that came out to support Dogpaw Off-leash Parks during the Bark in the Park Vendor Fair and Fundraiser! We got to see a TON of cute doggos and spread awareness on the importance of preventative dental care for our furry family members.

Everyone that came by our booth was invited to enter to win a free dental cleaning (a $695 value) which includes: Pre-anesthetic bloodwork, anesthesia, IV catheter and fluids, oral and physical exam, scaling and polishing of teeth, full mouth dental x-rays, and a nail trim.

We received over 100 entries!

The winner was drawn from the entry box this morning by one of our amazing technicians and the winner is:

In order to show you the effectiveness of OraVet, one of our asisstants volunteered her dog to be the test subject. After the dental cleaning, OraVet was only applied to half of the mouth. After 3 months, with no daily brushing (yes, we’re bad about brushing too), the results are in and there is a crazy difference!

We want to give a big shout out to our incredible medical director, Dr. Heidi Talbott, and her husband, Jon Talbott, for taking on one of the greatest tests of horsemanship on earth, The Gaucho Derby. This multi-horse race is a 10 day, 500-kilometer ride through the Patagonian wilderness. They have spent the last 18 months preparing for this monumental challenge and are headed off today for Argentina. We are all rooting for you both and cannot wait to have you back home! Sending good vibes and positive energy your way!

We understand that times are tough, and many people are facing financial hardships. In an effort to better serve our clients, while still providing exceptional care to our patients, we have decided to decrease our dental cleaning package price from $750 to $695. We accept several forms of payment (cash, debit, credit, check, care credit, and scratch pay.)

Our comprehensive dental cleaning package includes: physical and oral exam performed by the doctor, pre-anesthetic bloodwork, IV Catheter and fluids throughout the procedure, anesthesia, close monitoring of vitals from a trained assistant/technician, full-mouth dental X-rays, scaling and polishing of all teeth, and a nail trim.

We all know how important it is for your pets health to feed a well-balanced diet, vaccinate, and give flea and heartworm prevention. But just as important, is maintaining good oral health. Dental disease is the most common disease found in cats and dogs. It can lead to infection, bone loss, loss of appetite, severe pain, and lethargy. Human studies have shown periodontal disease can lead to cardiovascular, neurological, pulmonary, and reproductive disorders, as well as systemic inflammatory disease.
