Ten year old Bessie has been at Chatham County Animal Services for two weeks and upcoming space limitations may impact her ability to not be euthanized. LeeAnn and Perry spent some time on Sunday with Bessie and discovered a very sweet 22 lb. girl desperately needing a best friend. We need a foster home by Wednesday in order to save her. Fostering is easy, you furnish love and a safe environment as we prepare her for a future adoptive home. If you can help, please complete our online application by pressing on this link:

- We have no knowledge how she is with cats as she arrived as a stray to CCAS.
- We will perform a dog test tomorrow at the shelter.

URGENT POST
Popo was brought into one of our vets on Friday due to a sore on her right rear leg. She was left by a roommate of the person bringing her in and the person she was left with is unable to keep her due to finances and other pets. Right now we need a temporary foster for this incredibly sweet girl who purrs the moment you touch her. We need someone to assist in getting her healed, an extra room or large bathroom would be ideal for her getting better. We will see her through this medically, we just need a foster parent to love her and apply medicated cream twice a day. She is passive and doesn’t have a mean bone on her. She is spayed and up-to-date on all immunizations and does fine with other cats and dogs once healed. Please reach out to (912) 695-2415 if you have a temporary space for Popo.

Help us help seven year old Rosie. Visit https://donorbox.org/saving-rosie-from-afib after reading her immediate need for help.

On Thursday, a member of the local community reached out to Perry with GRRR regarding abnormal breathing and anxiety their beloved dog Rosie was experiencing. Due to limited finances, they reached out to us for help. Perry had them drop Rosie off at Eastside where she was seen and kept for observation. Through radiographs and an EKG that day, it was determined that sweet Rosie was experiencing atrial fibrillation also called AFib. AFib is an arrhythmia which is an irregularity of the heart's rhythm. Not treated, AFib presents the possibility of death or stroke. GRRR is assisting Rosie’s owner with medical costs due to limited finances and to ensure that Rosie can be around with us for a good while. She is well loved. Medications have been prescribed and she has been temporarily stabilized.

Tomorrow, Monday, February 17, she will have an echocardiogram which is a cardiac ultrasound looking at the heart. This will greatly assist in determining her prognosis and determine the correct protocol for her treatment. By end of the day tomorrow, radiographs, EKG, medications and the echocardiogram will cost us close to $900.00. Additional medications and visits are possible. Because this was a sudden and unexpected expense we are asking our followers to donate in assisting us to save Rosie’s life. Please visit https://donorbox.org/saving-rosie-from-afib if you can assist us in helping Rosie. Thank you for your love and commitment in saving senior dogs in our community.

Today is a big day for ten year old Rocky. Welcomed by Cindy, Rocky checked in this morning to spend the day with Dr. Mulvey at Savannah Veterinary Medical Center. He is being tested for Cushing’s disease. Cushing's disease in dogs occurs when the body produces too much cortisol, a steroid hormone. Symptoms include increased thirst, urination, and appetite, as well as hair loss, skin problems, and weight gain. Untreated, dogs will die from the disease. If treated, the disease can be managed with the dog remaining on daily medications for the duration of their life. Want to help support Rocky’s care? If you are a follower of the GRRR organization, over time you have probably noticed our extensive work with saving senior dogs and cats and providing them with their last stop loved. 95% of the time, a senior dog or cat comes to us with chronic health conditions requiring long term medical care until they pass away. This typically requires frequent vet visits and daily medications. GRRR also also assists senior citizens in the local community with their senior dogs allowing them to keep their precious companions. This post is a shout out and thank you to our incredible friends at Renegade Paws Rescue, with a huge shout out to Andrea and Jennifer at RPR.

Pictured are Dulecnea, a 3 year old little girl and Amberlyn, a 5 year old little girl who were rescued by GRRR from CCAS. Diagnosed with deadly heartworm disease, we started them on the initial 30 days of doxycycline in preparation for their heartworm treatment. This week they received their injections on Wednesday and Thursday at Renegade Paws Rescue through their program. This was not only a lifesaving treatment for the two dogs but a tremendous help to GRRR in reducing our monthly medical costs. For this we are incredibly grateful to our good friends at Renegade Paws Rescue.

GRRR as all rescues, does not receive free medical through our veterinary partners. We have found that some people believe we get free services or greatly reduced rates at local veterinary practices. This is a myth. We pay the same prices that you do for medical care with an occasional discount but medical care accounts for 90% of our total costs in rescuing animals. Thank you again Andrea, Jennifer and all the volunteers at Renegade Paws Rescue.

Franklin, or Mr. Frank, is a super sweet and handsome little guy. At eight months in age, he was the only boy in his litter and has been the best big brother to his two sisters. He is very affectionate and is constantly wanting hugs and snuggles. When he's not cozied up to his sisters or foster mama, he likes to show off his jumping skills! This boy loves to play and would make an incredible addition to your family.

If you are interested in meeting Franklin, please fill out an adoption application by visiting:

Upon receipt of your application, a GRRR volunteer will then contact you to arrange a meet and greet.

Meet Daisy. Surrendered to us yesterday, we are seeking a foster home and a future forever home .
- Daisy is eight months old and is very sweet and a gentle little girl.
- Surrendered by a senior citizen after they decided that a puppy was not a good fit for their apartment and the women’s mobility issues.
- Daisy is very timid due to lack of socialization after spending the majority of her time in a senior citizen apartment complex. We currently have her in a temporary foster home with other dogs and exposure to people which is helping her overcome her shyness.
- To foster, please visit: grrrsavesdogs.org/volunteer
- To adopt, please visit grrrsavesdogs.org/applications
