I worked with Ebenizer and his humans this afternoon. Ebenizer has a lot of anxiety and gets extremely stressed when people come to the door so he goes into a barking frenzy!
So do we just make him stop barking and scold?
Of course not! We work on his confidence and make learning a calmer behavior fun!
We first focus on his diet and lifestyle. We consider everything before addressing a behavior
It's what knowledgeable dog professionals do.
The dogs emotional and physical well being is first and foremost
Whatever the behavior were working on there's a game for that!
Learning is meant to be fun. For the dog and the human 🐾❤️

A goal weight is meaningless if you're not earning it though a healthy lifestyle
And changing our dogs behavior is meaningless if you're not meeting their needs and understanding what's behind their behavior. What is their behavior trying to tell us?

There are no short cuts. Do the work. You'll have a deeper understanding, learn more, it lasts longer, you strengthen the relationship with your dog and yourself and you appreciate yourself better
Your dog will truly have their " best life" with a human who take the time to truly care for and understand them

A healthy diet
Daily exercise
Get outside
Take your dog
Know how to trust and rely on yourself
Repeat daily ❤️🐾

Worked with Millie this afternoon on going to her "place" instead of rushing guests and jumping all over them when they arrive
She also resource guards and gets big feelings about her food, space and humans
It's ok because we have fun games for that 🐾♥️

Have you ever felt as though you can't truly be yourself or are not understood?
Have you had anyone scold or punish you for being authentic? Have you ever felt exhausted or not well and someone judged and scolded your based on your behavior as a result of not feeling your best?
I think this is what most dogs live with each day and if they could talk they'd say, "please take the time to understand me and have patience with me! Im doing my best "!
Humans love to project their humanness on to their dogs. They love to make up scenarios about dog behavior without any education
Dont be that person
Be the person your dog needs. The one who wants to understand more and project less . Who wants to change their own behavior first
Who would NEVER use a ; shock, prong, choke or bark collar.
Who would never hit or use force, fear or intimidation

I will spend the rest of my time on this planet helping dogs have a voice. Their voice.
Because they are so worth it

Let your dog be a dog ❤️ 🐾
