"So Nash's parents went out of town and left him with a new dogsitter. He got out last night about 9 PM, and I found him at 10:40 PM. I was able to call the clinic from his rabies vaccine tag and they were able to reach out to his owners. They got in touch with me early this morning and have a family friend picking him up within the hour and getting him to his vet. Thanks again for all your help!"

..which means it's time for our annual reminder to be mindful of your dog's needs during the hot summer days. While exercise and daily walks are always needed, make sure you're taking the appropriate precautions for your particular pup based on their breed, weight, age, and the specific conditions.

If you must spend time outdoors in extreme heat conditions, offer plenty of water, find shade, and walk them on grass (or wear booties!) instead of hot pavement.
