But with patience, care, and a few good dog friends, Maverick has blossomed into a playful, confident, and loving companion.

He thrives in playgroups, loves agility and training sessions, and shines when he has a job to do. Maverick’s the kind of dog who gives his all—he just needs someone willing to do the same for him.

What he dreams of now is a safe, steady home where he can finally relax. A fenced yard or an active family would be perfect for this bright, loyal boy.

Hi there, I’m Wendy — your next little adventure buddy. 🌟

I came to C.A.R.E. from one of their TNR partners here in Chicago, and they quickly realized I wasn’t meant for the outdoor life — I’m way too friendly for that! I love saying hello with a few chirps and meows, especially if it means I’ll get some pets or playtime in return.

I’ve got soft brown tabby stripes, a few cute white toes, and a whole lot of charm. I’m the kind of cat who likes to roll around dramatically when I’m happy, chase after toys, and then curl up right in your lap for some snuggle time.

For a long time, she didn’t even have a name.

She came to Animal Control in heartbreaking condition — so thin it hurt to look at her, her fur matted, her spirit dim. It’s likely she was bred for her puppies again and again until she couldn’t anymore. Then, she was discarded. Moon had spent most of her life in a crate, not knowing there was another way to live.

But even then — she was gentle. Kind. Forgiving. Somehow, she still believed there were good humans out there.

And one day… she discovered cheese. 🧀 With each bite, she began to heal — her body, her trust, her sparkle. The matted fur came off to reveal the sweet, soft soul she’d always been.

Today, Moon is healthy, curious, and full of life. She loves to walk and explore this big, beautiful world she never got to see before — and she’s even found her voice! (She’s got things to say now, and she’s not shy about it.)
