Captain Dan needs to have a small procedure done this afternoon to remove a large lump in the most difficult place for him, on his bottom. Because he scoots around on his butt, it is getting to be uncomfortable for him and getting to be a problem. Healing will be touchy for the same reason. Please send him all the love for an easy procedure and recovery. 💜🙏🏻💜

Our monthly sponsorship program is the best way to help the animals at SoL! In addition to the care, respect, clean water and sunshine they receive, our residents also require clean bedding, comfortable shelters, healthy food, and medical care. When you sponsor an individual animal, you contribute directly to his, her, or their care and well-being. We rely on our sponsors to know we can continue to provide the best care to all of our residents.

Free admission to all of our sanctuary events.

When Thunder came to us, he had such a terrible mite infestation, his skin was horribly itchy, painful, and swollen. He has healed but his hair never grew back on his legs and spots on his body. We keep a coat on him to keep him warm but those naked legs get cold! We were struggling to keep leggings in him but thanks to for the idea for his front legs and clipping the back ones to his coat, so far they are staying on! And he looks dashing, don’t you think?!

He came to us as a “dangerous, unhandleable” alpaca who couldn’t be managed. He was actually just suffering and scared. Now he lets us put his leggings and jacket on and lays down for care. He’s a very sweet boy.

Go Penelope!!! 💖🐽💖 10 days post kidney failure diagnosis, Penelope is back to eating well, taking her herbs like a champ, doing her Penelope pig stuff, and wagging her sweet tail! While we know this is a serious condition, we are absolutely thrilled to see her feeling so well and back to living her life. Good girl Penny! We love you! 💖🐽💖

Very happy to see Penelope nibbling her watermelon and sipping her fruit smoothie this morning. Hoping she’ll feel better if she gets some nutrients in her body. Sanctuary is very hard work and when it comes to farmed animals, often dealing with humans can be hurtful and heartbreaking. The awful comments and overwhelming uncaring attitude toward their lives is exhausting. It feels hopeless at times. But then when we see all the kindness, support, and caring come through from all of you when one of residents is hurting, and it makes us hopeful again. Penelope is not “just a pig”. None of them are. When it comes to suffering, we suffer the same, when it comes to love, we love the same, in all the ways that matter, we are the same.
