Driving Mustang Projects
My two driving mustang projects finally got some much deserved attention today! I have been meaning to get Cowboy driving to be my next competition driving horse and today we were ready to take the next big step towards being hitched to a carriage this spring. Taking it slow and making sure our training was solid paid off as he did great pulling the sled and me for the first time today. Can't wait to actually get him hitched soon and show off this sporty little mustang in driving shows this year!
Mickey is also being started to drive and today was day 3 practicing our ground driving. I like to teach ground driving as it is a great way for them to learn how to steer plus it helps me to guage how confident they are navigating new situations without me next to them to guide them.
Day 1,263 for Cowboy and day 90 for Mickey Mouse.
I have been out of town for the last few days and all I could think about was this guy! We only have a few weeks left together before the competition so I am so glad I was able to get in a session tonight.
This evening is the 2nd time Mickey has come into the garage. In the matter of minutes today working with the overhead door for the first time, I was able to open and close the door. It will be our new hangout even after dark.

ACMC Novice Showmanship Challenge
Just a little fun horsin' around this evening and trying the novice showmanship pattern for the American Competitive Mustang Club #ACMCshowmanship challenge. It has taken some getting used to when doing showmanship as I am accustomed to doing it with my miniature horses which feels way different compared to using taller horses. They are both new to showmanship but they are coming along nicely. Who else does showmanship with a mustang?
