I’ve had these kittens the last few days, calling the tortico Saffron and black kitten Turmeric for their vibrant yellow eyes. Saffron may be slightly older, and was protecting Turmi the first two days, but now both are eating with me present and we are working on human contact and socialization generally as we look for rescue placement. They are adorable.
I am way behind posting, as I’ve been spending lots of free time working on trapping and socializing a cat colony in Columbia Heights. has been amazing, placing 12 kittens already (most with St Francis), and we hope to place another 5 over the coming week. There are still 15 or so cats out there, and we just saw a new litter so will work on them as well when we have space. If you’ve ever thought about fostering a young adult cat or two, or want to donate to the Vet fund for those with respiratory symptoms, send me a message and we can chat!
This sheepdog face is priceless, trimmed neatly with fluff in control and practically perfect. So very kissable, my Princess Pearl!
Pluto has such a good time on our walks, especially when there’s a nice breeze and a sunny sky. Look at that sweet smile!
Quinnie stays calm most of the time, on occasion she gets excited for a snack and laser focuses on the opportunity. I love her in all forms!
Huxley has a good week every week, this pup is always in a good mood. He continues to charm every person and pup we meet!
My niece Julia came along as my assistant on Monday, after I got approval from all those clients, and she had a ball! She has been learning cat care since she was a baby, and dogs once a little older. Everyone had lots of fun!
King Henry always accepts petting and cookies when I see his puppy brother Jackpot, slowly lumbering down from his morning nap spot, and this week Princess came up as well!
I visited Jackpot over the weekend while his Mama was helping set up at the MN State Fair, and we were both thrilled to be together! I have so many adorable photos from our visits, always hard to choose but I lean in to the goofy smiles.
Chauncey is my other Monday regular. Some clients, like Chauncey’s humans, have me once a week to give their dogs something fun and a different person to entertain them and I love seeing this guy to start my week!
Monday was a whirlwind this week, and I’ll catch up on posting over the day today. Larry and Lemon thought it quite hot, low 80s is too much for these guys so a slow meander and then home for cuddles. They always make me giggle!
Update: 9 kittens trapped and going to a rescue, something around 20 still to go on site!
A handful of folks in Heights are responding to a request to help with a cat colony, minimum 15 cats and could be more than 20. We are currently looking for folks who could temporarily hold a cat or two in their home once we trap them, as we are connecting with rescues to see which can sponsor and take them in for a foster. We think most can be socialized, but of course we still need to learn more and get them in to traps! The blind kitten below has been accepted by Kitty Revolution already, there are quite a few cute kittens and at least 5 adults. Reach out if you could house a cat or pair of kittens in an empty room for a few days, or as a foster caregiver!
Would also gladly accept cat food, litter, or to borrow or keep wire dog crates to house these cats while we find longer term foster!
Pluto is always ready to share joy, he grins and snuggles and it is so sweet how he greets me with his favorite toys each time!
Nala was a dream this week, high energy and enthusiasm and, yes, there was reluctance to come back inside at the end but on a gorgeous Summer day that’s understandable!
On windy days Arlo and I get especially excited, his fur flies and we lean into it! This past week was fun.
Huxley has an infectious smile, but don’t underestimate those puppy dog eyes because he can play those up for days!
Quinn had a fun week with me, warm walks and gentle petting and meeting as many people as possible on our way.
A belated Happy 7th Birthday to my Siljan, a kitty we adopted early in the pandemic and who has become a treasured part of the family. He is excellent with all the foster cats, loves David more than food, and occasionally agrees to cuddles with me (aka Spare Human). We heard good things about this catnip ball, and thus far he’s a fan!
Blue/Bluey is Loki’s younger brother, and he appreciates having a handsome house panther in the house to teach him the rules. These guys keep separate most of the time, today the snacks and toys brought them both out to see me.
Loki rounding out the black cat appreciation, this guy loves his treats and his people and has such a tender look in his eyes…when I’m holding food. He can be a chatty boy, occasionally playful, today he wanted snacks most of all!
Charlie is Frankie’s big brother, and they mostly get along. Charlie is so soft and fluffy, and mild mannered, which just means Frankie can take over as the big personality of the household!
Black cat appreciation for Frankie, who gets a wee bit jealous if I lean down to pet her brother Charlie and learned that hopping onto my back is one way to distract and bring focus back to her. Oh Frankie, so lively and playful and fun!
George aspired to be an opera star, in this life he has a limited audience but I do appreciate his efforts! Such a silly boy as he plays, and as he leans off the counter for more petting time.
Daisy has some stellar jumps and rolls in pursuit of toys, and if cuteness could win the Olympics this permakitten would have a solid chance!
Do you sometimes struggle with fitness? If so, Rascal can relate. Sometimes he runs out of steam, and others he misses the toy altogether. It’s ok, Rascal, keep on keepin on and you’ll be just fine!
Princess is enthusiastic about her Churu treats, and doesn’t mind that meds are mixed in. We appreciate her cooperation, because if she doesn’t want to do something it is mighty difficult to get it done!
Tongue out Tuesday catch up with King Henry, he will always partake in cookies when offered and he will show off some smooth moves to sweeten the deal!
Binx is hard to capture in his full form, dark fur throwing the light, if a witch were to have a familiar I think he is an excellent candidate. He is a Maine C**n, so he’s a big guy, and that silvery gray belly fluff is so thick!
Roman is another floof of a gray boy I visited this weekend, he is brother to orange Fluffy! Roman here doesn’t have quite the mane that Turbo does, who I posted earlier, but otherwise these gray boys have similar energy and both like brushing and lazy play swatting at a wand toy. Excellent kitty.

Saffron isn’t quite as open to petting yet, but today she ate Churu from the tube and that’s a big step forward. She allows some head pets with a wand toy, and now a high value snack directly from me. Slowly but surely these kittens are learning that indoor life with humans can be wonderful.
Turmeric the foster kitten has been enjoying petting with a wand toy the last two days, he now walks up to the kennel side and really leans in to it? I have pet him a few times very briefly with my hands, we’re showing affection and working up to human contact.

Gitch here also loves drinking from the sink, with parental permission! He may hide from thunderstorms, but this cheers him up.
George here is the first cat I knew requesting faucet water, his humans offer it regularly and he will sit and stare waiting his turn.
I love when cats show me how much they are spoiled, here is Binkey this week asking for the freshest water possible!

Woah there, was it windy today! Arlo was up to the challenge, he even thought it fun, but did give me a few looks to double check I was safe. The storm took us from 48 this morning to 20 now and it is still dropping.
Binkey is such a strong cat, for any age, but especially for 15! This guy loves to play, and he also quite likes to demand petting and tuna with his full voice. I follow his direction gladly.
Jack had energy for three loops around the backyard, then in to warm up. He likes winter, but in single digits we keep it brief and play inside and cuddle the rest of the time. That suits us both well.
