Kennedy is a 6 month old male pup who is 35 pounds. This sweet guy is good with kids and other dogs. He absolutely loves to play. He’s great in the crate and is completely housebroken. He’s learning basic commands and is ready to find a family to call his own.

Jerky, one of the Aussie pups just graduated puppy school with some of his littermates! How fun that they got to spend some time together each week! Jerky went through Cape Fearless Dog Training and endured 5 long hours (1 hour a week) of positive reinforcement training, and endless treats and pets. He learned crate training, sit, down, stay, leave it, drop it, place, how to walk on a leash, as well as other puppy manners. Maya also has private sessions available.

We highly recommend maya and her team, and if you’re interested in signing your pup or dog up for training, reach out to her!

Nugget is still looking for her forever home. This stocky 40 pound 3 year old girl is a bundle of joy. She would prefer a home with no other dogs due to a previous history of being attacked. She does still have some anxiety around other dogs. When they’re far away she wags her tail and wants to play, but as they get closer, she gets scared of another attack and cowers. She has done fine with cats and absolutely loves children. She’s housebroken and crate trained.

We know it’s sort of late to be putting a post up, but we just couldn’t wait to share an update on Taffy. Thanks to all of you, Taffy was able to have two surgeries and essentially reconstruct her nasal passages. She is finally ready to be adopted after being in her foster home for 6 weeks. She is 28 pounds, great with kids, dogs, and cats. She’s housebroken as well!

This girl came in on the struggle bus, and has made quite the transformation. She’ll be able to live life to the fullest now and be able to play without having to catch her breath every couple of minutes. (Video in comments of before/ after surgery). Taffy couldn’t even sleep before surgery, as she would wake up every few seconds to try to breathe through her mouth (imagine living with a congested nose is the closest comparison we can give to what taffy was going through).

Sweet 4 year old Martin sat at the event all day yesterday wondering why he wasn’t being adopted, over those tiny, crazy puppies. He is the best boy, weighing in at 17 pounds. He absolutely adores anyone, and everyone. He’s amazing with kids, and loves to play with other dogs. He would be a great addition to any family, or a single human household just looking for a snuggle companion. He loves to be outside, and go for walks. He’s crate trained, and about 95% housebroken.

Martin is also seeking a new foster home if not adopted soon, if anyone could open their home for him to crash at until his forever family finds him 💙

Some of the happy faces that adopted a puppy today! 7 puppies got adopted, and three pups went to a foster home (who might end up choosing to adopt)! We also had 2 kitties adopted.

It was actual insanity today- if you came out, then you know! We are so thankful to everyone that came out just to say hi, donate to us, chose to foster, or adopt! Also huge thanks to Craven-Pamlico Animal Services who drove 1.5 hours each way to bring some of their adoptable puppies, dogs, and kitties out. They went home with 7 less dogs and 2 less cats that will never have to see the inside of a shelter again!

We need about a full month to recover from today 🤪 but our next event will be at Oval & Ale in September!

TOMORROW!!! We will have adoptable puppies, dogs, and kitties! For dogs, please apply ahead of time, as we expect it to be busy. Applications that are currently in, and processed have priority to adopt. These are general applications so not specific to a certain dog.

If you can’t adopt, and are interested in fostering, come hang out and see what dogs don’t end up in their forever home, but are desperately seeking a place to hang that’s out of the shelter until they are adopted.

These are not posts that we love making, but unfortunately, its the reality of rescue.

When we took Taffy in, she was struggling to breathe through her nose, due to a large gash in it. She went straight from the shelter, to the emergency vet to be evaluated ($200). We were told to schedule an appointment with the rhinoplasty surgeon there so she could undergo nasal surgery. July 25th she went in, and underwent surgery to see if they could fix her nose ($2000). Unfortunately, her whole nasal passage had collapsed from what we believe was having a can stuck on her nose for so long from scavenging for food when she was abandoned outside.

That surgeon referred us to have a consult ($200) with another surgeon to essentially remove all tissue buildup in her nasal passages and reconstruct her nose so she can breathe. As of right now, Taffy is struggling to breathe. She cant play for extended periods of time as she gets out of breath quickly, and is miserable. The quote just got emailed to us this morning for this surgery, which is attached. Theyre estimating it to be $3000-5000 for her surgery TOMORROW! We simply do not have the funds to cover this. We are currently treating Haven for heartworms ($1000), have dogs being spayed and neutered almost daily, adding to the bill, as well as still financially recovering from Lily the beagles surgery, who is back at the emergency vet today undergoing surgery to hopefully remove the wire in her jaw (lily has cost $3000+ as well).

We are a small rescue that can only function on donations. We are begging for help so Taffy can undergo surgery tomorrow. We have 12,000+ followers so even if everyone only donated $1, then we would have enough to cover Taffy, and Lily's surgeries. If we cannot raise close to the amount for her surgery tomorrow, we may need to push it out further until funds can be raised. We would hate to do this, as her quality of life is poor until her nose is fixed, but we simply dont have the money to cover the expenses that have poured in.

Our first pup coming to the adoption event this Saturday is Raven- he’s a 5-6 month old sweet baby who loves everyone. Great with other dogs. Likely to be a medium sized 50ish pound dog.

HUGE adoption event this Saturday! We partnered with Craven-Pamlico Animal Services who will be bringing as many adoptable puppies and dogs as they can fit in their vehicles! We will be posting sneak peeks with some of the adoptable pets that will be there this weekend. Please put your application in early so we can get started on the approval process!

If you can’t adopt, please consider fostering. These guys need out of the shelter and a place to crash until they find their forever home. We supply everything you need.

This sweet little fluffy girl is Rae. She’s a long haired 9 week old shepherd mix. Rae loves to nap anywhere she can find. Shes good with other dogs of all sizes and loves kids. Mom is 45 pounds and Rae is currently 4.5-5 pounds.

We had a super successful adoption event yesterday at The Bend! Bonnie, Zeus, sunshine, Luna, and Steve were all adopted, with pending applications for a couple more dogs! We feel like we didn’t bring enough dogs for the amount of people that showed up to adopt 🤯 due to this, we’ve partnered with Craven-Pamlico Animal Services and on August 17th, we’ll return to The Bend for their Bubble festival with even more adoptable dogs… and maybe a few kitties too! We received a ton of dog and cat donations, and are sooo thankful for everyone that donated something to us 🖤 We can’t wait for next months event!

And we made it on WECT News

The festival included adoptable dogs from Dauntless Dog Rescue, florals from local flower farms, live music and several different vendors.
