We are in the process of relocating. This is quite an undertaking since trapping and moving animals is not an easy task. Construction on a cattery is happening at our new place as we speak. Folks have been asking me if we are accepting animals. No, we are not accepting new animals. Nelson county has used us as dumping ground for feral cats and has not supported us with any resources. For this reason we are not listing our address where we are moving. Our goal is to care for the animals we already have and see them through their lives but we do not have the resources to accept any new animals. We do not have any paid staff. We have been a bit quiet since we have had so much going on with selling the property and looking for a place to relocate outside of Hampton Roads. It is not easy to find a place where we can have an animal sanctuary especially with limited funding. That is what is going on with us. Please do not contact us about taking in more animals, we are not accepting any animals. We are struggling to maintain the ones we have not to mention finding a place we can move with them.

Today is giving Tuesday. If you would like to support our Animal Sanctuary. https://healingheartsanimalsanctuary.com ( non profit 3 501 c3), I have compiled an amazon wish list. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/OK9A1D1X0Q9M... Chewy sometimes has items at better prices but I did not know how to create a list there. Any purchase for us is a big help since we do not receive any government funding and most of our private donors have stopped since Covid. Most of my money goes to the Sanctuary but that is a lot less since I left teaching and am currently working for an hourly wage (so no paid holidays). If you give and need a receipt, please message me and I can get Mom to send you something.
If you are one of my local friends(Amherst, Lynchburg, Cville) and are cleaning out old towels and blankets please let me know and I can get them from you. We need a lot of bedding to help the feral cats stay warm during the Winter. Used towels and blankets are always a welcome donation.

It has been a tough week for us having to say goodbye to Zumba. He was one of the sweetest cats at the Sanctuary. His roommate, Sophie is having a tough time.

Zumba is one of the oldest cats here. We are bot sure his exact age since he was an older adult cat when we found him.

Happy Holidays to each of you. Just a reminder that as your pet ages ,their eyesight and hearing start to fade . Over head lighting , blinking lights and bells ringing for them can be a source of anxiety. Friends dropping by wearing Santa hats, and sharing in the
holiday cheer, can also place your pet in a more protective behavior. Be kind , make a quiet space away from the crowd and noise for them to detox and not be on alert. If you want them to be a part of the action and you see your pet getting reactive , use a baby gate to separate them , while still allowing them to be near. Stay safe and may God bless each of you with the richness of life.

I will not be doing any more fundraisers through facebook. The check we received at the Sanctuary was only about half of what I raised. I understand fb and network dir good take a cut but that shoykd not he half of what was raised. Be wary of facebook fundraisers. This is very upsetting .
