Mission Statement:
Founders, a mother and daughter team, rescued their first horse on January 7th, 2019 (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). He had serious medical needs, which were addressed by a local veterinarian. After learning about the auctions throughout the country, and regular people (unaware farmers, horse lovers and Amish to swap out for a "newer model") selling to kill buyers for Cana
dian and Mexican slaughter, we wanted to try and help save as many equines as possible. With the help of the community, friends, family, volunteers and all walks of life, we want to save as many horses, and animals, as possible to avoid the ultimate fate of slaughter or euthanasia. In the future we would like to establish a therapy program with horses, so that veterans with PTSD or individuals who suffer from mental handicaps can spend some time with the horses. We believe that by grooming the horses, or even riding them, it can provide a positive, cathartic experience for all parties involved. Each horse has been emaciated, sick or in a condition that requires immediate attention and treatment. We have both a trainer, farrier and veterinarian who evaluate the horse’s condition and temperament. Afterwards, a treatment or behavioral regimen is implemented to make sure that the horses are in good shape and can be around people comfortably and safely. Marlokai Equine and Animal Rescue, Inc. will market and advertise its services through online and social media platforms, such as a website and Facebook. We will also work with a networking company in Long Island, arrange a radio ad, and partner with the chamber of commerce to promote our organization. Additionally, we will host several fundraisers, such as bowling events, bingo nights, Chinese auctions and small fairs to raise funds. All proceeds will go towards our operational and administrative expenses.
