Lady practicing jumping up onto the big rocks 🪨 at the park. At first, she didn’t want to or see the point of it 😂. Jumping up on things is a huge confidence builder for young dogs. Good to push them pass what they think they’re capable of doing. I usually do place bouncing using these rocks with my dog Goji. It’s fun to incorporate basic obedience out in the world.

Lady the Dogo Argentino is staying with me for the week. She’s 5 months old and has a really nice temperament. We’ll be working on basic obedience and ecollar training (for off leash). So far she’s doing great! 👍

Meet Posie! This adorable Boston terrier is staying with me this weekend for training. Her owners would like us to work on walking and leash reactivity. So far so good - she had a great day! I’ve already started her on a prong collar, which is in increasing her listening skills! 👏 🐾🐕

Out with Tater this morning. He’s definitely in the rehab process on his leash reactivity. Kind of a precarious state. However, he is learning that I do not allow leash reactivity when we walk. So he’s learning a new normal. He’s an amazing dog with a lovely personality. The goal is that his owner is able to take him on walks without fear that he’s gonna blow up at other dogs and bikes, etc. We are getting there with ecollar work.

Honestly, I would never own a dog without an e-collar. Even if they were already a good dog… it helps with so many things that give us a better behaved dog. Like basic obedience, and Off-leash freedom.

It also helps stop any unwanted behaviors and prevents things like resource guarding and leash reactivity if you know how to use it.

It takes a lot of training, and it’s not a quick fix. You actually have to do a lot of training with them. I recommend to my clients the first year they get an e-collar, to work pretty hard at training their dogs in different situations and places.

The narrative of them being cruel dog training tools is losing its charge. More and more people are realizing how effective and humane they are. Positive reinforcement only dog trainers may not like them, but the average dog owner is starting to see their value. I highly recommend! (Also, get a decent brand if you get one…)
