We want to congratulate and highlight one of our amazing Board Members, Dr. T.C. Branch, on being named the recipient of the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association’s (ALVMA) Distinguished Service Award for 2024 for exceptional achievements and contributions to the advancement of the veterinary profession!
Dr. Branch is a two-time Tuskegee University graduate, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in animal and poultry science in 1979 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 1981. He founded Oporto Animal Clinic in 1986 and has been in private practice since. This is one of the numerous awards that Dr. Branch has received throughout his career, including being named Veterinarian of the Year by the ALVMA in 2020.
Congratulations Dr. Branch! 🎉
Temperatures are dropping! Though it may be sunny and feel like fall during the day ☀️🍂, temperatures are expected to drop significantly after dark for the next few days ❄️. Be sure to watch the weather, bring all pets inside, and provide proper outdoor shelter. Dog houses with straw are a great option, as hay works to keep our furry friends warm. Remember, if it's too cold for you, it's too cold for your pets too!
We are also accepting donations for dog houses and cat boxes for pets in our community.
Today is #EmployeeAppreciationDay! While we love our staff EVERY DAY, today, we wanted to call special attention to everyone who makes it possible for GBHS to continue our mission of promoting the humane treatment of people and animals! Without their dedication, this would not be possible. THANK YOU! 💕
Roses are red, and Violet is BEAUTIFUL! Meet one of our #FURtasticFour, Violet. Violet was one of the 100+ pups rescued from the recent Nauvoo, AL hoarding case. As a result of years of neglect, she is blind in one eye and has limited mobility in her back legs, but thanks to community support and the care of her foster mom, Heather, she is receiving hydrotherapy at Sassy Swimmers Alabama Canine Swimming
Hydrotherapy is a great way to strengthen her back legs and is slowly helping her relearn how to walk. Check out the video below of her first-ever water session, and see more Violet photos in our stories! Stay tuned for more updates on Violet and the rest of the #FURtasticFour!
