Want your business to be the top-listed Pet Store/pet Service?
I've been a search and rescue K9 handler for the last 8 years and was an animal control officer for 5 years. I decided to get my K9 training certification through Animal Behavior College to pursue obedience training and behavior modification for the general public. Between my fiance (Jennifer) and I we have 3 Golden Retrievers who are trained to locate live humans and human remains. Recently Jennifer and I started a business in which we use highly trained K9’s to locate leaks in natural gas and oil pipelines and narcotics detection for private industry. This brought 2 more members to our pack. Paco and Nala are both very high drive Belgian Malinoi’s that bring a who new level of crazy to our house! I work with dogs daily whether it’s my own, with other handlers in SAR training, or with family and friends. I enjoy seeing someone develop a good relationship with their dog, one where they understand better what the dog is trying to express to them and where they can better communicate to their dog what they want. Through proper training, one can develop a better bond with their dog which in turn leads to a more trusting and peaceful pack. I focus on positive reinforcement of proper behaviors and socialization. Typically beginning with one on one training in order to minimize distractions. Groups can be accommodated if you have some friends that all want to train together. My training technique teaches dogs that obedience and other desirable behaviors, such as not jumping on people, earn them things they like such as treats, toys, petting and praise. This type of training creates a dog whose primary motivation is based on earning a reward as opposed to avoiding a punishment. Additionally, it helps build a stronger bond and greater degree of trust with your dog. My goal is to teach you to look at your dog as an individual and use the things they like as a way of rewarding them whenever they do something you like. This will motivate you and your dog without causing confusion or stress—and it’s a lot of fun, too. For a dog, good behavior buys freedom. The more a dog is well-behaved by society standards, the more opportunities you and your dog will have together.
In addition to dog training I am partnering up with Critter Care on the Divide to provide dog walking, dog/pet sitting, and feeding of other animals while you are out of town. Whether it’s just a brief drop in to feed and a quick walk or you’re going on vacation and need all your critters cared for we can accommodate your needs.
We will also be providing beginning nose work classes which is a great way to build the bond with your dog. You’ll also get to know how to read their body language better, and provide both mental and physical stimulation for your pup all while they get to do something most dogs love to do-use their nose. Almost any dog can participate young or old. Even dog reactive dogs since only one dog searches at a time. Contact me for further details.
