I have been an animal lover and advocate for dogs for as long as I can remember. I am active in Shelter reform. I support several rescue groups and I particularly love the organization called C.H.A.I.N.E.D. out of the Detroit area. A few years years ago I went into a local animal control and found a very shaken Standard Poodle. He was totally shut down and frozen with fear. The more you spoke to h

im the more he quivered and cowered in the back of his cage. I inquired about him at the front desk and was informed he was an owner surrender that came in the day before. I was told his name was Bentley, he was 3 1/2 years old, not neutered and that he had been an outside dog. This was all the info they had. With two dogs at home, I was not looking for another, but he pulled at my heartstrings and I asked animal control to call me if no one adopted him by the weekend. I really had no experience with the Standard Poodle breed, but there was something about him… maybe it was those big brown eyes? Whatever it was, the spell was cast. The call came a few days later and off I went to fetch him. I planned to find him a good home. Once he settled in, I had him neutered so he would not fall into the hands of a breeder. I quickly fell in love with this big brute and he became part of my family. A few years later my old Maltese went to the rainbow bridge. I was combing the pet ads on Craigslist. I clicked on Free Stuff on a whim and could not believe my eyes – but there was a Standard Poodle. I won’t even get in to the dangers of posting any animal for free on Craigslist. Of course, I emailed immediately and a lady called me the next morning and off I went. More than anything I did not want this dog to fall in the wrong hands/ home. Again I was blessed- this time with a sweet little girl named Molly. She was 2 and had never had any vet care, lived on a farm and was tied to a barn. Yep, I kept her as well. She and Bentley are inseparable. I served on the board of the Humane Society of Bay County in 2012. I have been involved with many rescues and have fostered several dogs in my life. I believe in doing a home check and getting both vet and personal references before placing a dog in a permanent home. I have many contacts with other rescues in the state. I am so very attracted to the Standard Poodle breed and the sweet sensitive nature of them. I do not want to see them fall in the wrong hands. This is why I started a Standard Poodle Rescue in MI. If you need to surrender your Standard Poodle for any reason – please contact me first before taking it to a shelter. This is so stressful and scary for a dog. I am willing to offer a safe place and promise to do everything necessary to assure you that I will find the right home for your standard poodle. ADOPTED! Precious "Phoebe Roo Roo" 🙂 is a 15 pound miniature poodle. She is two years old and weighs 15 pounds. She likes kids and dogs, and is house-trained, crate-trained, and spayed. PENDING ADOPTION—Lovely RARITY is a 50 pound Standard Poodle. She is two years old, and she is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows a few simple commands. She will need to be spayed. She wears a harness for walking. Rarity loves to play outside, lounge on the couch, and cuddle with her people. She is gentle around kids, but is more settled around older children. She is not used to being left alone much, and she prefers people to other dogs. Rarity is being re-homed because she is increasingly nervous about the very young children in her home. She will do well in a quiet environment with people who have lots of time for her. She'll be fine with an undemanding resident dog (or not) that will live and let live. He is (mostly) housetrained and is crate trained. He likes the grandkids and is an all-around appealing little guy. He is looking for a home as an only dog (he can't get along with the other dogs in his household) with a single or couple who have lots of time for him. Teddy has a heart murmur (you'd never know it) and can't be neutered, He has never been around cats. ADOPTED! Nubby is a two-year-old Standard Poodle. His adoptive home didn't work out THROUGH NO FAULT OF HIS OWN and he is again available for adoption. He weighs about 45 pounds and is neutered. He is house trained and crate trained. Nubby has a sweet and playful personality, and just loves to be running and playing outside, especially with another dog. Nubby likes human attention, but doesn't demand it, and is often content to do his own thing. He's a sensitive guy and can get nervous around new people and situations. His loving owners think that Nubby will live his best life in a quiet environment with patient, active, homebodies, a resident companion dog (this is a must), and a large yard to run and play (or even a farm setting). He likes kids, and kids 10 + or grandkids would be a good fit. He seems fine with cats. ADOPTED! Tina is a bit "tuna" at 85 pounds 🤭, but with a little dieting, this plus-size gal will make a great companion for just the right home. Tina is six years old. She is spayed, crate-trained, house-trained, leash-trained and she is VERY well-mannered in the home. She loves companionship and cuddling. Tina knows a few basic commands and has always been good with the grandkids. She does not need to be crated when all have left the home. Tina has a very high preydrive, which has gotten her into trouble with livestock and cats, so she is looking a loving home with a fenced yard. ADOPTED! Meet "Chanel - ie" - she answers to Chanel or to Nellie :-). This gorgeous Standard Poodle is nearly two years old (6/12/23). She is crate-trained, spayed, micro-chipped, and current on vaccines. Chanel loves everybody - kids, dogs, and she's even fine with cats. She is an active girl with no destructive behavior or aggression, ever. She loves to walk on a leash though she will benefit from some fine-tuning because of pulling. She is very affectionate and loving. Chanel is being rehomed because of house-training issues, exacerbated by no fence or opportunity to be off-leash, and home renovation due to flooding. (We have experience with the potty issue and can help.) Honestly, it's her only "issue." Chanel needs a foster or a home with a fenced yard so she can safely get the exercise and activity she needs. She is used to a two-dog household. As always, approved fosters have the right of first refusal. ADOPTED! Chewy is a 3-year-old, 56 pound, Standard Poodle. He is house-trained, neutered, and current on vaccines. Chewy is a family dog, looking for an active home with adults (and perhaps kids) who have lots of energy and lots of time for him. A friendly, resident dog is a must. Chewy has excellent recall and is crate-trained. He is being surrendered, because his loving owners are now working long hours and leaving him alone too much. He is sad and bored, and they want him to have a better life. PUPDATE: SADLY, AUTUMN AND THERAN HAVE REHOMED GOOBER WITHOUT OUR KNOWLEDGE. HE IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. IT'S ALWAYS FRUSTRATING TO INVEST VALUABLE TIME TO NO AVAIL, BUT WE WISH GOOBER GODSPEED AND HOPE THEY HAVE DONE RIGHT BY HIM. GOOBER's story is a tale of angels among us... GOOBER is a 2-year-old, 55 # (?), Standard Poodle, purchased a year ago by the owners who cared for him as you see in the photos. He has been living alone outdoors, since his caregiver was incarcerated. Yesterday, he caught the eye and then the heart, of an Uber driver who could not bear to leave him in those circumstances. By evening, the collar was off, no longer cutting into his neck, and Goober was on his freedom ride, his rescue angels at the wheel! Goober is sweet and loving, playful and grateful. So far, no "accidents." He is crate-trained. He loves the resident dog and is interested in the cat, but leaves it alone. He will need to be neutered, and this is all we know about GOOBER. except that he needs help. HE NEEDS A FOSTER OR A HOME! ADOPTED! FAITH is very young and vibrant at 8 years old -- very loving, playful and athletic. She weighs 50 pounds and is spayed. Faith is house-trained, leash-trained, and knows a few commands. She is enamored of her people and loves to just be near them. She is fine with kids. Faith is being rehomed because family circumstances have forced a move to an apartment, and her loving owner knows that apartment living is not a good life for a Standard Poodle. Faith is looking for a home with people who are around a great deal of the time and a playful resident dog (She misses her former canine playmate.) In a country home, she probably doesn't need a fence, but in a city home, she will need a large yard and (at least) a 5 ft. fence. This girl can jump! THANK YOU EVERYONE! TRANSPORTATION AND FOSTER ARE SECURED. .😢This is MAX, a 10-year-old, puppy-like, sweetheart of a Standard Poodle. He is house-trained, crate-trained, neutered, gentle, and playful. He gets along well with other dogs, and has always lived the country life. For the past several days, Max has been living alone in a crate, with a few visits each day from a neighbor who feeds him and take him outside, because HIS MAMA DIED. 😢Max is very sad to be without his owner and depressed to be alone in the house, in a crate. 😢 MSPR URGENTLY needs a foster or adopter for this "helluva good dog."
