Just a few short years ago we welcomed an AMAZING person and Veterinarian to our team. It doesn’t come without tears to see her depart but we are so excited to have been a small journey in her big plans. This isn’t “goodbye” for us, but a “we will see you again soon!”

A message from our very own, Dr. Parkins:

“It is with great sadness that I announce my departure from Ripley Paws Veterinary Clinic. I am excited to share the news that I will be returning to Mississippi State University this summer to pursue specialty education in Internal Medicine. From there, it is hard to predict what the future may hold. Nonetheless, the opportunity to develop relationships and practice veterinary medicine alongside your fur families has been an honor. Thank you for letting me spoil your pets with squeeze cheese, for granting me time to talk through the complicated cases, and for even allowing me to shed a tear in the heartbreaking moments. Ripley Paws gave me my first real chance to make a difference in the lives of animals, and for this time of learning and growing, I will forever be grateful.

As of May 30th, I wish Ripley Paws and all constituents a fond farewell."

The ideal candidate is compassionate, capable of multi-tasking, and exhibits a team player attitude. The candidate must be able to demonstrate proper animal handling and be proficient in collecting samples, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests, and acquiring radiographs.

Applicants pursuing a career in veterinary medicine or that have experience within the veterinary field is preferred.

We have some EXCITING news to share!! We are happy to announce we are adding a Large Animal Veterinarian to our team!

Please help us welcome Dr. Jarred Burdette!!

Dr. Jarred W. Burdette grew up in WV and attended Ripley High School. He participated at the Jackson Co. Junior Fair, raising and showing livestock through the local FFA chapter. There he fell in love with the animals and support associated with the community that helped raise them.

Jarred has provided farrier services to this community since 2011, which helped support him while completing his undergraduate degree in Animal & Nutritional Sciences at WVU. Jarred then continued to further his education at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg, VA where he obtained his Doctorate Degree. He has since completed a year long Equine Internship at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, KY, where he expanded his knowledge and skill-set by working alongside some of the top equine practitioners in the profession.

Dr. Jarred Burdette is now excited to continue his career back in WV at Ripley Paws Veterinary Clinic, providing not only small animal but large animal services to the the community he knows and loves.

We are looking for a friendly and organized Veterinary Receptionist to join our Ripley Paws team. In this administrative role, you check-in our animal patients, update their records and owner information, schedule appointments, and process payments, ect. You may also be asked to help prepare prescriptions or provide home-care instructions to pet owners.

Candidates pursuing a career in veterinary medicine or have veterinary experience is preferred. Excellent customer service and computer skills are required.

A friendly reminder that Heartworm is on the rise. Over the last few months we have seen an influx of positive cases just in our clinic. Please remember that heartworm prevention (as well as flea/tick) is recommended year round!
