We were able to add a spay/neuter transport day to our calendar thanks to the great Allegheny Spay and Neuter Clinic/Animal Welfare Council of the Alleghenies!

While most of the day's appointments are already filled with folks from our waiting list, we have 5 appointments available for MALE cats that we need to fill. Date is September 5. $70 covers neutering. Transportation provided between Huntingdon, Tyrone and the clinic in Woodland. A $15 deposit will need to be paid through our website to secure the spot by 8/26. Interested? PM us (don't just post a comment here - it will take longer to respond to you and we might miss your comment in the high volume of correspondence we receive directly).

BONNIE... if only this little girl could speak we believe she would tell us a story of having an extremely difficult life.
She spent her entire life producing litter after litter. We will never know the trauma she endured... but it definitely affected her. She is very timid and unsure of what life can truly can be like. She has been making progress in her foster home and will absolutely need another dog to give her confidence. Winning her trust and feeling her fall in love with you is truly one of the most rewarding gifts of rescue. If you want to experience rescue first hand, Bonnie is your girl! She deserves the BEST life has to offer! Is that you?
If so apply now www.onedogatatime.us
Please know our dedication to our animals goes beyond just finding them a home; we aim to match them with families where they will thrive, receiving the love and care they deserve. Please understand that our adoption process prioritizes creating lasting connections over speed, and we do not adhere to a 'first come, first served' approach. Your patience and understanding during this process are deeply appreciated as we strive to ensure the perfect fit for our rescues and your family.

Did you know.....cats can go into their first heat at 4 months of age?..cats can go into heat every 2 weeks?..our partnering clinics spay/neuter cats as young as 3 months of age?..shelters and rescues have long waiting lists of cats because of the overwhelming number of cats in our communities?

Time is of the essence - prevent more kittens from being born into a life of homelessness or neglect. There are not enough good homes for them all. Not even close.

Visit our website to read about our spay/neuter program options,
www.happypawshappyhomes.org Or send us a PM and we'll get you started.

Please - If you find a bird, NEVER put water in it's mouth. The little hole you can see at the back of this birds tongue is their airway. One wrong drop in there, and the bird aspirates, meaning it drowns. They can't cough the water back up, and it's a horrible death.
Baby birds get all their moisture from the food the parents feed them.
If you find an adult bird that is dehydrated, offer it some water to drink by itself, or you can dip a cotton bud in water and wipe the tiniest bit down the side of their beak, making sure you avoid the nostrils.
People message me saying they've syringed water in to a birds mouth. This is usually a death sentence and the bird goes downhill over the next few hours.
If you find a baby bird, keep it warm. If they don't have full feathers, they need a gentle heat source. They can't make their own body heat. NEVER feed a cold bird. Their digestive system stops when cold and this also results more often than not, in the bird dying slowly.
Warmth is key. 💙🐦💙

It’s almost that time of year again-mark your calendar for our annual Doggie Dip! This year it will be held on Sunday, August 25th-the day after the pool closes for the season.

The Windy Wagon will be set up during the event to get some delicious lunch! You do not have to be attending the event to grab lunch.

We want to thank the Burnham Borough for allowing us the use of the pool for this event. It’s so much fun & a favorite of quite a few pups! 🐾🐾

If your life circumstances change and you're no longer able to care for your dog, there are ethical ways to find a new home for them.

Mark your calendars! PAWS will be hosting a walk-in vaccine and microchip clinic at our shelter this coming Saturday, July 20, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

This is a great and low-cost way to update your pet's vaccinations. If you would like a 3-year rabies vaccine, you must bring proof of your last rabies vaccination.

Please note that this clinic is first-come, first-serve. We apologize in advance for any wait due to the high-volume expected.
