Teaching ‘Stay’ helps keep your pup safe and well-behaved! 🐶 Learn how to do it right. 🐾

The Stay command is one of the most essential commands for your dog. It not only helps keep your dog safe, but it also promotes calmness and good manners in any situation! 🙌 Whether it’s keeping your pup from running out the door or helping them settle during family gatherings, Stay is a game-changer.

Here’s how to teach your dog the Stay command:

✅️ Start with Sit: Have your dog in a seated position. This is the foundation for the Stay command.
✅️ Show the Hand Signal: Hold your palm out toward your dog as if saying "Stop."
✅️ Give the Command: Say "Stay" calmly and firmly.
✅️ Take a Step Back: Gradually increase the distance between you and your dog. Pause for a few seconds, then return to reward them!
✅️ Reward and Repeat: Always reward your dog for staying in place. Repeat the process until they can stay for longer periods and at greater distances.
Consistency and patience are key! 🎯
