We've still got a few hours!! We'd love to see you 🖤

TOMORROW IS THE DAY!! We’ll be there rain or shine, but the weather looks like it will hold at the moment! We will have extra bottled water for everyone as well as hoses, fans, and a small plastic pool set up for dogs to cool off in. If your dog isn't used to being outdoors in the heat, please leave them at home.

A few other reminders...
Cash is preferred, but MSIR will take checks made out to them.

No need to print out tickets. It's all digital :)

Let us know NOW if you are bringing a basket and haven't told us yet. It's also helpful to come early if bringing a basket, so we can get it checked in.

We’ll have a costume parade, so don’t forget to bring your most fashionable looks for you and your shiba. No need to wear them all day. We'll let you know when it's happening.

This is not a great place to socialize unsocialized dogs. There will be a huge number of dogs and people at this event, and this can be very stressful for some dogs. Please keep your dogs close to you and limit your dog’s sniffing of others. Dogs must be kept on short leashes at all times (no flexi leashes allowed) at this event. Other breeds of dogs are welcome to attend as well. We’ll consider them “honorary shibas” for the day.

Please reach out to us with any questions or concerns! This is one of my favorite days of the year, and Midwest Shiba Inu Rescue is so appreciative of your generosity towards rescue shibas. The money we raise makes a huge difference in the lives of so many shibas, and we are so grateful that each and every one of you continues to attend and support our fundraiser. We can't wait to have one last shiba picnic with you all. See you tomorrow!!

We recently learned of an alumni's passing. Sweet MoMo was a member of our MSIR family, and her humans sent us the sweetest message and we'd like to share with you, in honor of sweet MoMo 🌈

"Momo came to me through MSIR, though I had a feeling right away she wasn’t a Shiba. She was a beagle mix with floppy ears, soulful eyes, and the sweetest personality I’ve ever known.

We only had three years together, but they meant everything to me. Momo had this energy that filled the room. Her tail wagged so hard I always confused it for a draft. She’d howl when ambulances went by, and while she never fully taught her brothers how to do it, they started picking up the start. She loved her broccoli toy, her llama, and anything her brothers were playing with. But mostly, she just loved being close. She’d follow me from room to room and always wanted to be in contact. She kept peace in the house, stepping in when things got too rowdy between her brothers or making sure I didn’t get too close to her mom.

One of my favorite memories was how we used to dance together every day. I’d bring out a treat, and she’d wag her tail until she was fully rocking her body side to side, showing her joy. It always made my day brighter. Even when she was sick after surgery, she still found the strength to jump into bed to cuddle. That was just who she was. Strong, loving, loyal, gentle, and always giving everything she could.

She passed from aggressive lymphoma earlier this year. I held and cared for her the entire time. She left this world in my arms, surrounded by love. I miss her more than I can say. But I’m so grateful she was mine and that we found each other. She made everything better."

Fly high, sweet girl. We're grateful to have been a step in your journey & thankful you ended up with your people. 🐾
