About us
Hi, welcome to ATX Happy Paws! My name is Christine Mears. I am originally from Corpus Christi, Texas—also known as the “Sparkling City by The Sea.” I moved to Austin, Texas in 1998 working for startup companies and in the telecom industry. I have always been an animal lover first.
In High School I was very involved in the FFA program where I won several showmanship awards as well as placed with many of my animals. I was very involved and my parents helped, but I was taught to have responsibility. We had a black lab mix growing up and I helped with him. In High School, I worked as a Vet Tech at the local veterinarian office for over three years and learned a lot about proper care for pets and also assisted during surgeries.
I have a daughter who recently moved to college and she is also a huge animal lover. I currently have two Jack Russell’s—Jack and Gunnar. Both are rescues. I also have a Chocolate Lab—Lily—one Lovebird—Peachy—who is a rescue, and two Conures—Comet and Mango, one of which was rescued.
I have been working for several companies as a dog walker and pet sitter part time for a few years and recently took this on full time. This has been extremely rewarding for me in so many ways. I get to work with not only awesome pets, but awesome owners. I have made the career move to focus on animal well-being and start my own company serving my neighbors and community.
