People are getting scammed and Facebook does not seems to care about the hundreds, if not thousands of times, it has been reported to them.

Scammers from countries in Africa, Asia, etc. are posing as American breeders to steal your money. They create fake profiles and kitten groups which appear to have many members and admins that are "reputable breeders." They fill their group with other fake accounts.

They steal photos of kittens from real breeders and pass them off as their own and post them in the group as available. They attempt to attract new victims to their group by posting on comments written by followers of real breeder pages with links to "their awesome group." I see this daily right here on my page.

If you fall for the bait and join one of these groups, look out for:
- approval questions about whether you want to buy a sphynx
- group members that have very little FB activity and are mostly of foreigners
- Bad punctuation and english
- No real conversation about the breed
- Sphynx kittens that are available right away as usually reputable, experienced Sphynx breeders rarely have kittens available to go home right away.

What you can do to protect yourself:

- Do a reverse Google search for the photos you are seeing to learn who the kittens really belong to.
- Get REAL references of people that you can actually call or video chat with.
- Ask to do a FB live or video call to see kittens! Ask to see their ID, their face and the kitten at the same time.

If you are sus...trust your intuition!

Out best advise is protect yourself by:

✔️ Adopt from your country only - unless you know people personally that have worked with the same out of country breeder and you are 100% confident you are safe.
✔️Adopt from someone that has verifiable references from people that clearly are real.
✔️ Check around other breed groups that have been around awhile and search for the breeders name in post or conversations. The Sphynx community is relatively small and normally other breeders will know or know of the breeder you ask about.
✔️Only participate in Sphynx and Lykoi groups admin-ed by verifiable people that can prove their legitiamcy through ways such as cattery certificates, business contacts, USDA, and the Better Business Bureau!
