Buddy is a gorgeous 2 year old red short hair 19 pound purebred standard Dachshund. He’s a very affectionate boy.

Loves to go out in the morning, and sun himself on the outside patio. He gets along with other dogs. Does chase the feral cats in the foster’s backyard.

Buddy is highly active, so he needs a home with a yard. Not a good fit for apartments or condos.

Buddy is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations and rabies. He is potty trained. Will scratch at the door to go out.

Barb says: absolutely love Santa Monica Veterinary clinic. The foster of the little Chihuahua puppy took her in this morning because she wasn’t putting weight on one of her legs. She’s the one that burned her pads when some awful person left her on hot asphalt or concrete. Dr. Berg cleaned up her paw and trimmed the dead skin and she’s good as new now. And when I told them we were low on funds, they said no charge today

We mourn the life of Alumnus Spencer who Sandy and Tom adopted from our Rescue 10 years ago . He was diabetic and blind but got bone cancer a few months ago. He was probably 12 years old old as the vet thought he was 2 years old when he came into Rescue

We thank his family for giving him a wonderful home

Ok so we have not been successful in finding a foster for 12 month old 15 # Bash (short for bashful) She’s a sweet, patient and smart mixed girl found on the streets in Whittier and no one has responded to ads

We will have to send her to Utah next week if we can’t find a foster or adopter for her

Update. Now looking for a new forever family. Foster found

We have this bonded pair in Long Beach whose owner died and they need a new family. Maggie and coco are 13 lbs and 9-10 yrs old and very happy normally. They have been good with all the dogs they’ve met so far

They are used to going out thru dog door for potty and if you don’t have a dog door will need to have a regular schedule of walkies

Las Vegas fostered Dexter is a smiley and sweet Tweenie sized senior with a zest for walkies, toys and tasty grub, meeting new people and dogs and just hanging out on the sofa with the fam

Charming chubby chonky Cookie at 3 weeks old, Hazels baby His mom is a Tweenie sized wire mix of some kind so we think he will be around 12-15 lbs when grown.

He is available to be preadopted now to go home at 8weeks old

Socal Foster needed for poor young sick Tully!

She has lost her home, was on the kill list at a scary shelter, birthed three pups, was valiantly trying to feed them tho terribly sick and bone thin

Now our vet told us she can’t get well while nursing so we have taken her beloved puppies from her to another mom !

She doesn’t understand any of this. she needs love and care from someone so badly to be able to get well

Do you have a laundry room or bathroom you can stash Tully in while she recovers from pneumonia ?

Thank you to our transporter for trying to get Tully treated. we need a foster immediately in so cal for Tully who can continue getting her well bc the transporter is leaving town tomorrow

Hazel is a dog we rescued from the euth list at san bern who only has one living puppy.

When the vet said bone thin new mom Tully (new euth lister from Baldwin park) had to be separated from her puppies so that she could have a chance to survive pneumonia we took her babies to hazel (below) who fed and cleaned them immediately. So they are safe. Made me cry. We were so worried about how to keep these two day old pups alive

Swimming is a GREAT exercise for IVDD dogs because its a full workout and it's low impact. Dwarf breeds are not very good at it because their short limbs cannot keep them floating. But a good life vest will allow them to enjoy the last days of summer with a splash!

Update! Mom is now being treated with effective antibiotics and her babies were taken to another nursing mom who we have. She is feeding and cleaning them. Poor neglected and bone thin Tully was so sad when her babies left but now she can focus on getting well

Abandoned mama and three newborn babies with a cold were to be euthanized. The Shelter was calling her Tully. She’s very young and only 14 pounds. You can see from her eyes how scared she is

Our volunteer transporter ran to get her but we don’t have a foster set up for her. Babies are now placed with another nursing mom dog we have bc she was too sick to care for them

Yogi's journey to rescue and adoption is one of so very very few to have avoided death at the high kill San Bernadino shelter. Found wandering without tags, a chip or collar, starved, emaciated, almost completely blind, filthy with skin, ear and a**l infections with an eye that had been traumatized (which needed to be removed), he was given 6 days to live. He did have an owner but they never contacted the shelter and never came for him. His given name was confirmed to be Yogi. Yet, his sweet trusting independent nature and his will to survive kept him positive despite his dire circumstances. The shelter misjudged his age as 15 (he's really 10-11 years), almost blind, his poor condition and his lousy intake photo almost all but guaranteed absolutely no one would rescue or adopt him. In the 11th hour before euthanasia Dachshund Rescue of Los Angeles compassionately swooped him up and his new life began filled with compassionate care and attention. He is now a handsome man climbing pet stairs to the couch, confidently navigating life with an ever wagging tail. He may be "special needs" but he doesn't think so. A big thanks and shout out to DRLA for seeing the beauty in him, saving him, and finding a foster for him (me). Please don't turn away from rescue or adoption of a pet that may be special needs, a senior or one that "isn't pretty enough" as they, too, deserve to live. Adopt, don't shop!
