Earth Day 🌎. Earth… not Mars, don’t you forget that.
Our lives here depend on clean water, rich soil, and healthy and abundant food. We have to provide access to food (medicine) by finding creative solutions for our communities 💪🏾
In 2022, thanks to , we cleared our property of primarily thick, invasive vegetation and pulled up over 40ft hauling container of debris. We learned that the entire front half of the property (formerly lo’i) was filled in with concrete. It was shocking to say the least, but this is how some people treat land when they have no connection to it.
As a work around, we constructed our above ground shade houses in the former lo’i zone, with plans to re-forest the areas of unadulterated soil with native / canoe crops. As we continue to steward our ‘āina, more and more we can feel this land starting to breathe again 🪴 💦 ☀️
