Today is ! 🎉 This year, we wanted to give a shout-out to some amazing pittie parents who, simply by loving their pit bull, are helping to put an end to the unfair and untrue stigmas surrounding this breed. Pittie parents like Dave Bautista (Batista) who doesn't just play a superhero in movies, he’s a real-life superhero fiercely advocating for animal welfare and dog adoption. But he doesn’t stop there! He is also the adoring pet parent of not one, but four adopted pitties 🐶

Can you help?
Some of you may know Dave Coles, the 87 year old guy who works at the gas station in Califon. He lives in my neighborhood and told me that a stray cat showed up at his house and gave birth to 3 kittens 11 days ago. I’m going to help him get mom cat spayed, and I’m in the process of trying to figure out what options we have for the kittens. Shelters are usually inundated with kittens and cats and typically don’t have room to take in any more. It’s usually recommended to spay and neuter cats and keep them in the neighborhood where they are and just continue feeding them. I’m going to help Dave however I can, but if you can help too we would really appreciate it. He has been feeding the stray cats in our neighborhood for many years and could use money to buy food or be given food. He also has an outstanding bill at the Califon Vet, which I would love help paying off so that he doesn’t have to worry about it. Feel free to contact me or talk to Dave directly (he works mornings at the gas station). He doesn’t know I’m posting this so he may be surprised if you offer him help. Thank you.
