Seawind Seramas I am a small breeder of Seramas and Brown Red Modern Game. I live in WA state. I do not ship birds, but I sell at shows or you can visit me. I do ship eggs.

I will post available birds and updates from my flock on this page. I am a Washington State Breeder of Seramas, Brown Red Modern Game Bantams, and Single Comb Rhode Island Red Bantams. I am located in Poulsbo, WA, but I can ship. The Seramas are my more serious project, with the Modern Game and the Rhode Island Reds as secondary breeding projects. I also have designs on Redbubble, for those intere

sted in Serama or other chicken related products. I sell eggs, chicks (Rhode Island Reds), and adult birds. I can ship eggs and birds. I have both frizzled and smooth-feathered Seramas, and am primarily working on Chocolate and Birchen colors. I am very interested in the genetics behind poultry colors, so if you ask me I might be able to provide some genetic info on eggs and birds bought from me. If you are interested in purchasing eggs from me please let me know. Unless the hens aren't laying or I'm collecting for my own breeding purposes I will have eggs available. I can provide video and/or images of the parents. If you are interested in birds, I will be posting videos of available birds. If I don't have any birds posted, and you would like to be notified when I do have birds available please let me know.

Check out Honoria on page 3! Honoria is my 10 year old pet quality Gold Laced Cochin with DAM (delayed amelanization) or the chicken equivalent of vitiligo. She only lost her plumage color for one molt but never regained her vision.

Sigrid Van Dort writes a ton of great articles on chicken colors and genetics! I highly recommend her books and articles if you’re interested in genetics, especially if you’re doing any breeding. She has a whole Serama specific book!

As part of my ornithological illustration class, I put together this illustration of the basic pattern gene that governs chicken plumage coloration. It is now available on Redbubble for art prints and a few other types of items if you're interested.

Apparently sometimes we enter some alternate dimension where Midori and Amandine are bestest buds. Most of the time Aman seems to see Midori as an annoying younger brother, but last night he was accepting and soliciting preening from Midori. It’s nice to see them getting along.

Fitz being his handsome cocky self. Fitzwilliam is probably one of my best birds type-wise and he certainly knows he’s gorgeous. I included two less fabulous pictures last to show the difference a bad photo can make, but honestly it’s hard to catch him not posing.

Reminder that American type seramas can go in out of pose, and can be posed to look really good. So it’s a good idea to request a video before buying a bird online. The opposite is true as well, if someone starting out with the breed asks for an assessment of a bird don’t judge it poorly, based on a single bad photo. A great bird can have a bad day, and a mediocre bird can be artfully posed. Chiara in pose, and Chiara out of pose. Probably should have a bigger chest, but otherwise a decent bird when fired up (angry with the hen next door). If you just saw the second photo, you might not realize that.

Amandine insisted on being part of this afternoon nap, and attempted flying into my loft bed. He was unsuccessful so I took pity on him and retrieved him.

Spring has returned (yay!), and with it I'm started to get a lot more requests for birds. I'd like to reiterate that I am currently attending college, and won't be actively breeding for the time being. I hope to return to breeding in future years, but for now I will not have adults or chicks available (but I might occasionally be able to provide eggs if my ladies are co-operating). I have been using this page to post about my flock (even though I'm not actively breeding, my continuing bird experiences with raptors, and my pets (such as my house chicken, Amandine, who I bred in 2018), but I'm going to try and keep the non-chicken stuff mostly on instagram and reserve this page for flock updates when I start breeding again. If you're in the local area, I highly reccomend joining the Northwest Seramas group to look for other great local breeders! I'm sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for understanding.

It’s Bertram’s 2nd birthday today, sort of... He was a psuedo-rescue from a sketchy craigslist ad. They knew his birthday and said I could ask follow up questions but then never responded when I asked for an exact birthday. I knew he had turned 1 earlier that month (last December) so we made one up. When I got him he was a bipolar little demon who seemed to bite at random (and HARD!). While he’s still occasionally a demon, I’ve gotten better at reading him and he’s gotten more consistent and trusting (and he hasn’t drawn any blood from me in months! My roommate is a bit more fun to nibble on). I was also told he didn’t like toys... and while he still turns his beak up at somethings I’m quite happy with the progress he’s made destroying things. So we got a few more toys for his birthday and early Christmas. I’m kind of swamped today, but hopefully we’ll have time to make birdy bread tomorrow!

I’m back in Washington for the summer. It’s always nice to be home, and to see my birds. Here are Tulio and Crocasmia enjoying the fresh air and sunshine. NOTE: They are both frizzles but are not normally housed together and no eggs are be hatched. So no danger of frazzles. They are both Amandine’s full siblings as well so lot’s of good reasons not to breed!
