Well, technically I wear many hats but the main ones I put on are business owner, mother to a beautiful 5 year old girl & a of course, dog mom. ☺️
I went full time in my business the same year my daughter was born so she’s been with me every step of the way. She knows many of our Tail Swaggers and has grown up alongside many of them. 🤎🐾
A little more about me:
I’m the owner of now ✌🏽 dogs! Yep two. lol Both of my dogs are rescue pups. More on their stories in the future. ☺️🐾
I was a prior collegiate athlete. Played softball at Lamar University and got an opportunity to throw the Javelin my 5th year for the track team. Super cool experience!
I looooove going to the gym and doing anything that requires movement to challenge my mind and body. (Could just be the inner athlete in me).
I’m very invested in my personal development. Which definitely translates into my style of dog training.
I believe every dog and their owner deserve to learn how to become the best version of themselves.

Years before getting into the dog training world, that sweet golden retriever you see in the photos drove me crazy. lol I’ve always loved dogs but she’s the true reason behind why I dove into the dog training world. Training saved our relationship (&my home from being destroyed 🫣😂).

I waited a loooooongggggg..... time before I adopted Bell.
I had many opportunities in college, but I always told people I wanted to wait till I had a house so my dog could have the yard and space she deserved.
That's exactly what I did! And guess what... even, with a HUGE back yard I still didn't know what to do or how to properly raise her lol... She was an out of control fluff ball that: peed in the house, ate the side of my drywalls, pulled on a leash, darted out the back yard gate... yep, when I say I have been in y'alls shoes before I'm not lying. lol So how did I go from that crazy fluff ball to the cutie pie adult fluff ball you guys know that listens, walks nicely, & comes when called? or I guess I should say, what changed?

I dove deep and invested in educating myself on how to help our relationship. AKA: I asked for help from a professional because I had to learn HOW to communicate to the dog I had in front of me. I had to be honest with myself that the "ideas" or assumptions I had been conditioned to believe prior allowed me to be a tremendously misinformed dog owner.
I had to learn how to build my confidence to lead her.
I had to learn how a DOG communicates. I didn't realize I was raising her like a human... lol
I had to be vulnerable enough to accept I didn't have all the answers and what I was doing, wasn't working.
Being vulnerable enough to understand I was only "thinking" I was right about raising my dog... I needed to get uncomfortable and ask for help so I could move forward in confidence KNOWING I was doing the right things to raise the dog I desire.
We go to the dentist about our teeth because they have experience and education in dental hygiene...
We go to a doctor when something is wrong because they have the experience and education in health..
Why are we not invested in seeking out professional help for our dog's when we KNOW we need help?
You wouldn't go to the dentist if you broke your leg? So why are you seeking out help for your dog everywhere BUT a dog trainer that has years of experience and education working with dogs?

Tail Swaggers was created to provide you as the owner a safe place that you can CONFIDENTLY trust to leave your dog. We limit the amount of dogs we care for to allow us the time to focus on the QUALITY of you and your dog's stay or time with us.
We know each dog has their own personality -> Which we call their Swagger :)... and we work hard to create a trustworthy relationship, getting to know them and their unique needs. This helps to create a place where they are comfortable enough let their true personality shine brightly!
We work each day to build their trust and help them learn that their space is advocated for which allows them to enjoy their time with us.

A doggie daycare is not one size fits all...
Look at what type of environment your dog needs.
Tail Swaggers is NOT like the typical mainstream daycares you might of experienced previously. How so?
1. We don't overcrowd your dog. We limit a total of 10 dogs into our daycare and split the dog's up into smaller groups throughout their day according to what is best for each dog. Why? because this allows your dog to have the space to stretch their legs, move around, and be comfortable. Your dog can actually learn to make quality & respectful relationships with other dogs if it suits them, or just enjoy more 1-on1 time and attention with us if they prefer people over dogs.
2. We practice healthy habits and mindsets: Yes, we have fun, play fetch, tug and go on walks, but we also incorporate nap time, neutrality work, leash manners, door manners, and training in areas we see they struggle with. Dog's create habits based on what they can get away with so if they go to a daycare where they get to be pushy and act up all day -> then they come home with those behaviors you don't like... just something to think about.
3. Not all daycares actually understand how to communicate with dogs... No, using a sq**rt bottle to spray at your dog's face is not teaching them anything. I have actually been inside a popular daycare and seen the chaos dog's experience and lack of understanding the employees had when trying to work with the dogs. It was hard to watch...
We have had some of our current clients struggle at other daycare facilities prior to finding out about our structured daycare. Im so grateful they keep searching and finally found a home with us here at Tail Swaggers.
If you've had a prior bad experience please don't give up hope. Keep searching because there is a place out there for you and your dog!

Just a friendly reminder.
Your dog earns their freedom by showing you they can listen in the daily moments. Don't give them too much freedom too fast. Wait to see what they can and can't handle.
If you find they struggle listening in at certain times or moments, that's a sign to reduce their freedom and focus on breaking things down to a simple level where they can better understand what behaviors you actually want from them.
Leveling up your dog's freedom is a form of trust.
It's ok if you need to take things slow. Go at a pace that you need to. You're on no one else time by your own.
Also, in case you need some motivation, I believe in you. :)
We are a pet care service that priorities advocating for your dog's needs.
What does this look like?
1. We never throw them into a play group. We take the time to build a respectful relationship with your dog and learn what they like, don't like, and how to make them feel comfortable.
2. Not all dog's like to be rushed up to. At our daycare we work on neutrality and dog's respecting each other's space.
3. We assess what you and your dog's needs are: if your dog struggles with overexcitement, we work on them learning how to create calmness. If they struggle with confidence, we help them build more condifence, etc.
Our focus is on creating a healthy environment for your dog to thrive in and feel comfortable in no matter if they are joining us for our structured daycare or staying with us for boarding while you travel.
We understand every dog is different and we do our best to embrace each dog's individual Swagger to help them grow into the best version of themselves.

Some dog owners don't care to be updated on their dog. They just want somewhere to take them and pick them up when they get back...
Some dog owners are the opposite and desire to know what their pup is up to during the day!
some dog owners never experience a place that updates them on their dogs so this might be new news to you...
There's no right or wrong way, only the way you as a pet parent desire. It's important to know what your preference is.
At Tail Swaggers, we provide daily pupdates both during daycare and when your dog boards with us. As a pet parent myself, I prefer to know what my dog is up to while I'm gone, if she needs anything, and I just adore seeing her cute smiling face. I don't like dropping her off and never getting updated or having to check in with the pet service to ask how she's doing. It makes me nerves...
If you're a pet owner like myself that enjoys pupdates, then I guarantee you'll love your Swagger updates! They get sent straight to your phone a minimum of twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the afternoon. :)
You will 100% know what your dog is up to when they are at daycare or boarding with us. That's a promise.

Affection is a great tool!… giving your dog affection at a time that contradicts what you want is what i see owners struggle with.
Mo learning what leash pressure means at daycare!
Focus on the quality of your walk over the length of it.
Do you know the benefits of teaching your puppy/dog how to relax on their side? 1. Being able to trim their nails 2. Being able to inspect their bodies, legs, ears, tail, stomach, etc. in case of emergency situations like them being injury or having to look at something on them 3. Preparing them for when they have to go to the vet to get checked out. I wanted to show you the messy moments so you can see that dogs are capable of this even the ones that don’t like to do it. This exercise does take TRUST so stay calm and take your time. Also, use a muzzle if you need too. 😊👍🏽 This is just the first step to getting your dog comfortable being handled. From here you can then start introducing nail clippers however, I would not force trimming their nails on your dog if you’ve never done this with them. For the first few weeks just help them master being able to lay down and relax. The biggest key here is to keep your energy calm. If you’re nervous and your heart is racing they will feel it. Breathe and ear by example. Hope this is helpful!

Have you already made plans for your dog for the 4th of July? If you have not, it might be a good decision to not go anywhere. Especially if you know your dog gets anxious with fireworks. If you do have an anxious dog make sure to keep a leash on them when you take them outside to use the restroom, get their exercise in BEFORE the fireworks start, play calm music, and utilize their crate and place command to help them know to tap into their calm mindset. Eye contact drill you can do in the comfort of your home! Tip: use your dog’s breakfast or dinner! This is an amazing start for puppies or dogs in training. This builds up their food motivation, helps you not over feed them by giving them a ton of treats, AND improves your relationship/connection with your dog. 🥰 Why is this drill important? Because it starts the process of teaching our dogs they get rewarded for checking in with you to see what you need. It teaches them looking & listening to you is much more important than anything else going on which is HUGE when you step outside. If this is your first time doing it the leash is key in the execution of this drill. At first your dog might be uninterested when you don’t give them food while they stare at the Fanny pack. They might try to walk away and finding something else to do. The leash helps keep them accountable to staying in front if you. Remember, stay quiet. Don’t call their name or make noises. You want to give YOUR DOG the opportunity to look at you ON THEIR OWN. Once they look you in the eye immediately say “YES!” Then reach into the Fanny pack and reward them with a piece of their kibble.
