This is a fact! I’ve worked numerous hours and took numerous educational seminars. Spend so much extra time and money to be trained and to take care of my clients fur babies properly! Everyone should always ask questions!

Did you know that pet grooming is a completely unregulated industry? There is no requirement for formal education, no required continuing education, and no required testing or certification?

Anyone and everyone can just pick up a pair of clippers and start advertising themselves as a groomer and charge people for a service they aren’t trained to perform.

It’s completely up to you, the owner, to do your research and make sure the person you are trusting with the health and safety of your pet is qualified to care for them.

Every groomer should be trained, and that very basic training takes months.

It takes years to truly master the ins and outs of grooming and everything that goes along with it.

Pet grooming is so much more than just a hair style.

*It’s knowing dog behavior and how to safely handle all the different personalities and quirks.

*It’s recognizing health conditions that would be better suited seeing a vet such as skin or ear infections.

*It’s being prepared for any and all emergencies that can happen, from seizures to allergic reactions, to nicks and cuts and quicked toenails without panicking.

*It’s knowing how to best deal with a variety of coat types properly.

*It’s being able to know when to stop a service on a particular dog due to behavior or health.

*It’s having the knowledge and patience to handle a different species while holding razor sharp clippers or 8 inch long scissors.

At the very least, the groomer you use should seek out continuing education to make sure they are current on the changes in the industry, from upgrades in products to tools that make the process easier for the pet and them.

They should be current on their pet cpr/first aid certification which needs repeated every couple of years.

They should be able to answer your grooming related questions with knowledge and confidence and if they don’t know the answer they should know where to find it.

They should have an emergency plan in place with a local veterinarian in case anything happens, because when working with animals it’s not a matter of if something happens, but when.

They should come recommended by other pet owners and pet professionals.

And it’s worth noting that there is nothing wrong with using a groomer that is still in training, but they should be working alongside an experienced groomer and under their direct supervision.

Ask the questions, after all you are paying them for a service. A groomer who has spent time and money to be as educated as possible is excited to share their knowledge!

With summer being here, and the days being hot, who wouldn't like to cool off?

If your pup likes to jump in the water, remember clear, running water is best (rivers, creeks, oceans, streams)!!

Cyanobacteria or blue-green algae can be found in stagnant water (ponds and lakes.)
This can be fatal to your pup if they swim or drink contaminated water. The algae produces a toxin that affects the liver, nervous system and skin.
Symptoms starting within 30-60 minutes of exposure. Live failure within just hours of exposure.

If you think your pup has ingested or come in contact with blue-green algae, call your vet immediately for treatment.

To keep your pups safe swimming or hiking this summer, remember:

🐾Check for posted warnings on water conditions that aren't safe.

🐾Check the lake reports before going out.

🐾 Choose moving, clean water like rivers, lakes and streams to swim and refresh in. Avoid stagnant water such as lakes and ponds.

🐾 Thoroughly rinse your pup off immediately if they come in contact with the blue-green algae.

We want everyone to enjoy the summer and refresh from the heat safely. Keep your pups safety in mind the next time they take a dip.🥰

Now it’s time to look into putting my skills to use!
Pet parents! Pet sitters! I would like to know who would be interested in knowing what to do for their pets in emergency situations for their fur babies. Anything to accidental poisoning/choking, how can you save your babies life! Well I can help! It’s definitely important and informative! I was fortunate enough before I even knew about Pet CPR I had one of mt pets get poisoned. Luckily I was in grooming school and babysitting part time for a vet! She saved his life.
Now I know what to do for my babies and I’m very grateful for it!

The little girl in the front wearing the bandana is Gracie! She is Camey’s best Fur friend! She and her bonded from the time they first met!
Yesterday during the horrible storms Gracie’s home was hit by lightning, the good news is everyone is ok, no fire. Bad news is they lost a lot of electrical appliances and damage possibly done on roof, attic may have smoke damage. Lot of inspections to be done yet to determine all the damages. They do have insurance coverage but of course will need to pay decutable!
So starting tomorrow! Bailey’s will be donating a dollar per groom we do, to help her family meet their decutable!

If anyone else would like to help during this time I will have a card in the shop to sign, so you may leave your address for them to be able to properly thank everyone!
I just wanted to try and find a way to help! 🥰🐾

This was on a colleagues page. I asked permission to use it. I have had a few pups I haven’t been able to do nails too stressed. One guy we had to figure out with vet what to do for his groom. He was too overwhelmed.

Good evening! We at Bailey’s want to take some time to Thank our wonderful clients who have taken the time out of their busy day, to stand by us these past few weeks as we have been weathering a bit of a storm! ☔️
I refuse to take to social media to talk bad about people as that is the wrong thing to do. I do the best I can not always easy to be the bigger person! I run a business and need to be a professional. I have had a few clients recently tell me they had received some private messages. Please feel free to reach out. I can not give you all a lot of information but I can answer any questions you have about us! I have been in business for 11 years in Cicero. 5 1/2 years here and 5 years co-owning another grooming business.

I want to take a moment and Brag on this Boy! Obviously this is not today’s photo!

Long story short! Archie is a shy boy and a home body! Loves his family! Never shoes much emotions when he comes to see me. Today I was there to greet him but Renee had to groom him for me as I had some important things to take care of. I made it back as he was leaving. He absolutely made my day! He was excited to see me loved on me and took a couple treats from me.
First time since I’ve been grooming him he took a treat from me! 🥰🥰! The littlest things that just make my day!
