Flick’s NA title run
Flick finished his Novice Standard Agility (NA)title yesterday with this run. Flick is very excited to run agility, it is his favorite thing!
Here is a nice example of a Beginner dog and owner who have mastered going through a doorway. This dog is respectful, doesn't rush, sits, waits, and is invited through the door. Notice how consistent the owner is, at every door, going through from both directions and at the ring gate. So nicely done!
THIS is how you manage dogs at your doorway, crate door, car door, anywhere you need calm behavior and respect. This is a great example of the leadership we talk about from the owner. She doesn't expect the dog to do this on it own, she is instructing, managing, inviting. The dog is loving this, notice the wagging tail, looking to the owner for leadership and guidance. Dogs love their owners to be their leaders, it takes the anxiety out of their life.
Toller scream
I have tried to explain the Toller scream to my students so many times, there is nothing more exciting for a toller than dock diving so I took the opportunity to video a couple. Brim is 100% of this dog’s scream, I just couldn’t hold onto him and video him at the same time. It is a special sound! ENJOY! The day was filled with these sounds, my watch cautioned me about the loud environment, as you can see the owners just laugh, it is fun to see them so excited for their turn.
Today was Dock Diving day at Toller Nationals, this was a fundraiser and so much fun for the dogs. My dogs have never competed in Dock Diving but it is probably time for me to pursue their titles. Brim jumped 12’2” which put him into the Juniors level. Here is his longest jump video. Flick has jumped off a dock into the lake before but never into a pool, the pool looks very different so after a little time and ending with me laying on my belly soaking wet on the deck to get the retrieving dummy out of the pool, he managed a 7’2” jump which kept him in the Novice level. All in all this was for fun for the dogs and they loved it! Listen and you can hear Brim screaming while Kevin is holding him, such excitement!
Flick’s Advanced Exterior search, he is a rockstar, there is a fine line between pressuring your dog into an alert, and letting them show you, I could have called the one on the bench sooner but he walked away so I let him go but made sure to come back to it from a different direction. He is going to be something special with a little more competition experience.
Flick’s Advanced Interior search, this was very difficult to video as there was no extra room for anyone!
Enjoy Flick’s Advanced Container run, we had a natural distractor in this run in the form of cat poo next to a box.
Bramble at Game Fair!
Howard and Bramble had a great day at Game Fair today
Bramble Dock Siving
Congratulations to Howard and Bramble! Bramble did great at dock jumping today. Scheels, Eau Claire Fall Hunting Fair. Howard says “I’m convinced his cross training of Agility, Rear End Awareness and Rally, etc helped immensely. He won first place 18’8”!”😯☺️
Running wild with our ball!
What do you do when it is too hot and humid for a walk? Do a little indoor training and then run wild with your ball.
