"VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES"
PAWS, a cat rescue relies on the kindness of animal loving volunteers to foster animals, transport them, help out with special events, and assist with day to day tasks around the shelter. Finding and retaining volunteers is seldom easy for any nonprofit and cat shelters have particular challenges. Volunteers need to do some dirty work, its not all cuddling and playing with kittens.
Lots of people love animals, but there are underlying reasons why a few volunteer to work at a shelter, namely:
1) some people seek a more satisfying experience than their day jobs provide and want to apply their knowledge to help fulfill the shelter mission.
2) some need to meet volunteer requirements for school
3) some want to get experience for their resume.
Serious applicants may submit an application here:

Our spice girls Bernadette & Luna have found their forever homes! These bonded girls came to us very unimpressed with humans. After lots of time and patience, we could see that they wanted to be around humans but on their terms. Thankfully they both love food and we were able to start petting Bernadette while she ate, Luna still kept her distance but I'm sure they will make a lot more progress in their new home. Enjoy your new home girls, you deserve the most wonderful life!

Sweet little Emmy has found her forever home! This darling little girl came to us very frightened and her fur was very matted. A trip to the groomers made her much more comfortable, but she still spent her first few weeks hiding under her bed at the shelter. Once she began to warm up to us and roaming, her personality started to shine and she wanted our attention and we were so happy to finally give it to her! We are so happy for you sweet girl, enjoy your new life!

This is a moment worth sharing. When Pisces first arrived at the shelter his eyes darted nervously from corner to corner. Every time a volunteer would try to approach, he would shrink back in fear. As time went on we could see he was very curious and also food driven. With lots of time from volunteers he did begin to come close enough to take treats, but petting was another story. He would allow a little but quickly put up his wall again. As time went on we continued to see his sweetness as he followed us for food but we new he needed more and felt it was time to advertise him with full disclosure in hopes to find the perfect family. And that is exactly what happened. They understood that he wasn’t just a “cat to adopt” but a soul who needed care, compassion, and time to trust again. As you can see from this video of him at his new home this has been a success. Pisces story is proof that sometimes the most timid, scared animals have the capacity for love when given a chance. We miss you but are so happy for you Pisces!!!! Enjoy your new life!

Sadly through no fault of her own, Rey is still in need of a foster home or forever home!

Can You Help?
Sweet Rey, who recently needed a lion cut due to severe matting, is in dire need of a foster home. She is 7 years old and such a sweet girl with so much love to give. She needs special food to keep her blood sugar regulated, so we are unable to let her roam freely with the other cats at the shelter. She would either need to be an only cat or in her own space where she can't get to other types of food. We really hate keeping her in a kennel until she is adopted, so if someone is interested in fostering her until she finds her forever home we would be most grateful! Please fill out our foster application below if interested-
