It was a 10 degree jump from yesterday to today, sometimes we are glad for an easy day of work. The weather app tried to tell me it was 87°F out... my vehicle in the shade said otherwise.

Being on the go all the time sometimes means your body has to force you to stop. Luckily the only thing that really suffered today because of that was bookwork because migraines suck. Looking forward to the change in weather and summer activities.

So grateful to for catching this snap of Eminem still enjoying his retirement. Bella recently made the decision to retire her horse to the same location where my boys are at. They will be his chosen first budies to welcome him to herd life!! And with so much rain we are starting to see some amazing photos of the lushness it brings.

So, for those who don't understand what they mean by their commentary, showjumpers are taught to jump up and across things, and across water. Both down banks and the rails into water have similar goals, to "drop-in." At the downbank you will notice the horse actually jump the ground line and push out and away, first disruption. Then at the rails the horse stretches out in the air as if he would clear the water rather than drop quietly in, second and bigger disruption. This isn't either parties particular error, just a gap in education and expectation in their career at that very moment. But this is one of those subtle differences between the sports that make it difficult and all the more impressive when either horse or rider can be highly competitive in multiple disciplines.

So many people don't realize that being a trainer doesn't mean that I only ride and teach. In my many years as a professional in the industry--whether working student, groom, assistant, or lead-- I have put in many hours of manual labor around the stable grounds as well. We tend to be much cheaper landscapers and maintenance workers on more basic jobs. Today I slogged it out with digging a trench so we could lay railroad ties to keep Prince from spreading his mats far and wide across his stall, which he excells at 🤣 So grateful to Greg for the guidance, help, and AMAZING tools to get it set up properly, and for always being willing to provide the resources when they are on grounds.

The average person tends to think the horse does all the work, our riders and their support team know that is far from the truth. I think one of the hardest parts of my job is having riders who have drive and passion and not letting my own passion for them to succeed come out in ways that seem over the top. It sucks when you can see they are so close, and if they just did the one thing you are telling them right at the right time as you told them then everything would fall perfectly into place, so you pish for it. I have to remember that learning is imperfect, and there will be a lot of imperfect tries before perfect ones. So I want to thank all of my students who experience that part of me and ride with it, and for those of you who understand and can appreciate what me being that on top of it with you means. Beautiful weather for fun rides. While we try to keep horses legged up through all of the rain we have had so far, it is impossible to keep everyone legged up to show fitness with the number of horses I have under my charge. Sometimes my personal horses who aren't actively showing get the short end of the stick, so we take our time getting them back into "fighting" shape. Secret and I worked to just be consistent and relaxed. We kept our sets short and sweet to try and keep our success level as high as possible.
